Great information but paying a one time fee for your ISRC codes is actually smarter because if you release a dirty, clean, remix, club version, 8 bar intro version for Djs etc. You dont have to keep rereleasing the song through your distributor. You simply just go into the metadata and add the new isrc code to the remix or clean version.

For those interested in assigning ISRC codes to mp3 files; do a google search for "mp3 tag express ISRC". It can batch-assign the ISRC codes for many tracks in one shot, automatically incrementing the designation code for each track. It beats assigning the codes one by one and it's very easy to use.

Getting individual ISRC codes, etc. is now useful to have, since the new Music Modernization Act was passed back in 2018. This means you should get an ISRC code, etc. and register them with the new non profit Mechanical Licensing Collective (MLC) website when it officially goes into effect on January 1, 2021, and they'll be in charge of collecting your royalties, instead of a digital distribution company. This eliminates the need for the middle man (digital distribution company) that you are paying annual fees toward. I highly recommend everyone to research and learn about this new MMA law. It basically gives the independent, diy musician, songwriter, publisher, etc. control over their mechanical royalties. No more Tunecore, cdbaby, Distrokid, etc.

Also, the new law includes the AMP act, which enables producers, mix engineers, recording engineers, etc. to receive a cut of the mechanical royalties now. The registration process for that will be done through SoundExchange, I believe.

I've never even heard of ISWC or IPI before watching your video. I live in the UK and they may not apply to the UK artists, at least I hope they don't apply.
