Humble Pie Scored Out with Lyrics in Description

Показать описание
Track 4 from their eighth album “Street Rats” released in 1975 copyright A&M Records. It was recorded at Olympic Studios in London and at Steve Marriott’s Clear Sound Studios at his rural cottage in Essex. The band was under tremendous pressure from their record company to do another tour but the band knew they needed a new album to promote if they were to tour again. They had already been touring for the majority of four consecutive years and were burnt out. Tired of waiting for the band to create a new Humble Pie album, A&M Records seized Marriott’s new recordings that were intended for his solo album and a collaborative effort with Greg Ridley. They hired Andrew Loog Oldham to produce the songs with a heavier sound than was intended and Marriott and the rest of the band were not pleased with the final results. Bassist & vocalist Greg Ridley said, “Humble Pie was better than that but we weren’t really consulted.” The album received mediocre reviews and reached No. 100 on the Billboard chart. After the album’s release and a farewell tour, they disbanded citing musical differences and Steve Marriott went on to pursue a solo career. Written by Dave Clempson & Steve Marriott and produced by Andrew Loog Oldham & Steve Marriott. RIP Steve Marriott, Greg Ridley & Ian Wallace. Featuring:
Steve Marriott – Lead vocals, lead & rhythm guitars, harmonica & keyboards
Dave “Clem” Clempson – Slide, lead & rhythm guitars
Greg Ridley – Lead vocals, bass & background vocals
Jerry Shirley – Drums
Special Guest:
Mel Collins – Saxes
Tim Hinkley – Keyboards
Ian Wallace – Drums on “Street Rat”
Yep, do that
Well, I seen you waitin' for the bus in your low-line sweaters
You got the best tits in the neighbourhood
I seen enough of you, too many to count, you should know better
Runnin' with all them blacks in Hollywood
Whoa-ooh-oh-oh-oh, yeah, yeah, yeah
Took a turn of the paper on the Fourth of July
Trust me, I know where it's gonna be
Hey, sister, take a fistful, you know the dealer's gettin' high
You get the scored out and it just ain't real
I mean
Yeah, woo-ooh-ooh
Ho
Did you ever crash through, playin' rap's mission
There's a friend of mine you just got to, got to see
He sells empty words, he deals in rubber goods
And it's a good-ass lookin' system, just remember my meanin' now
Just remember it's me and you
