Trump: US to demand restoration of UN sanctions on Iran

The United States is demanding that all international sanctions be reimposed on Iran, accusing Tehran of violating the terms of a 2015 nuclear agreement, from which Washington withdrew two years ago.
The United Kingdom, France and Germany have rejected the move.
They say the US has no legal right to ask that sanctions be reimposed.

How can you renounce an agreement, leave the agreement stating that you are no longer a party to it, state that you will not abide by any of the provisions in the agreement ... and then later on insist that you still have the right to activate the provisions you like within that same agreement? Can't eat your cake and have it too! And you can't cherry pick either. What kind of international relations is that??? What a massive FAIL!

The US backed out of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. (JCPOA) In doing so, the US has forfeited any rights to further action. On the other hand, Iran honored its agreement.

The US has no legal leg to stand under 2231 in UN resolution, as 2231 is an integral part of the JCPOA.
The only possible legal hope for the US would have been to deny exiting the JCPOA permanently since they didn't execute it in the UN.
