I think I agree with you Si about the unlikelihood of big cats on the moor because so many people carry a smart phone and the lack of photographs. Even if we started seeing a few images there would be a suspicion of two images being married together. On the other hand if a pony got badly mauled I may change my mind. I often wonder how Bronze Age people survived on the moor. Maybe a project for a TV company to film a year in the life of ? Looked rather cold on this trip and you needed the coffee. Regards Keith

Keep an eye on a guy called Derek Gow and his plan to rewild the European wildcat (About the size and look of a tabby). Its definitely a cause to keep an eye on as its gaining traction. He is the same guy who released some of the 1st beavers (though he says they technically "escaped") back into the UK. I personally would welcome rewilding of larger predators in the UK. Wild lynx would be great

Simon the reason the camera won't focus is because the light is imbalanced. You are sat in a dark section of the frame. The camera will automatically focus on the lightest part of the frame. If you had moved the camera so you just had the granite behind you (so slightly to the left) it would focus. Hope this helps :)

As you say if there was a big cat on the moors the squaddies would have found it. These stories have been going on for years with little evidence. Take care and stay safe.

There are big cat stories in every county Si but I personally have never seen one

Never seen a ‘big cat video’ that featured a reliable item for scale in the background. My son’s mate has a domestic black & white domestic shorthair and it’s comfortably twice the size of a regular moggy and has really coarse fur.

Yeah it's an interest of mine the big cat theory and cryptids. Whether I believe it or not I find it interesting and fun. Leon saw something on the West Pennines while we were out camping that he couldn't explain, certainly took the smile off his face when he saw it haha.

there a lot of big things on the moors end in it A T but like you, I don't think their cats Si :) I knew it was cold when it took you about 5 attempts to spark the Trangia into life ... Good to see the old kettle is still going strong ... Does it get a polish for Christmas?

If you believed the big cat stories there would be more black panthers in England than in there own native country.
Big cats wouldnt survive our weather. It would be like saying theres polar bears living in spain. Lol.
