Eric Johnson is such an amazing guitar plater. His version of this song is so intricate and mesmerizing. The chord shapes he makes with his fingers is mind-blowingly difficult!

The brilliance of Jimmy Page and the stunning interpretation of Eric Johnson. Two masters of the fretboard!!!

We are comparing apples to oranges here. Johnson and Page are both masters in their art! I would like to hear Jimmy’s interpretation of Eric’s “Cliffs of Dover!”👍😎

My mind's eye sees Mr. Page watching this in the wings with a beatific grin, offering nothing but an endearing respect and admiration for a wonderfully inventive interpretation.

That was beautiful.. my favorite zeppelin acoustic song though is going to California. Babe I'm going to leave you is hard to beat too.. the battle of evermore.

Only just found this. Will happily listen to black mountainside/long white summer stuff for hours- when Jimmy just in that flow. Oh, and it had Bonzo jamming with him. Yes Jimmy would I am sure appreciate Eric playing his own version, and why should music ever be a competition- Eric is not playing this to say “hey look I am better than Page or Janch “ he is playing a homage to them (as indeed black mountain side is to ‘waterside) Every modern guitarist has the opportunity to be “better” than those that precede them cause of the lessons they learned. Cliffs of Dover would not be were it not for all the guitarists that informed Eric -so this negates the point of discussing whether those who inspired him could play it or not. Eric has his own brilliance as a result of his predecessors. Lets enjoy a musician playing some stuff that is inspired by others. As an additional, it seems too often that Page is-referred to as sloppy. Yes, does sound like that often, but just listen to how clean (as in lack of gain) he plays stuff. Most modern guitarists have far more saturation which hides the sloppiness

Was fortunate to see him play acoustic in Atlanta on two occasions. Really magical, no hyperbole.

He's such a powerful guitarist and I actually like him so much more on acoustic!

I saw this tour in Richmond, Va in 2018. Eric still has it after decades of burning down stages.
