The new Sky Sabre system brings together data from the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, as well as being able and can hit a tennis ball-sized object travelling at the speed of sound.

The Army's 16 Regiment Royal Artillery has welcomed Sky Sabre, which is a replacement of the Rapier missile system.

Nice system. I see it's using the Swedish SAAB "Giraffe" radar system. Britain and Sweden have a lot of military manufacturing together with BAE and SAAB and Thales etc.
That NLAW is a joint Swedish-British anti-tank weapon.
I hope Sweden procure some of this.. Ukraine war has shown Anti-air defense is critical.

Now we need a mobile, land based version of the ASTER/Samson system from the Type 45.

A lot of newer missiles coming out with the "sky" title almost got this confused for the US Sky Hunter. I guess "sky- whatever" just sounds cool haha.

Interesting that the UK has moved units of Skysabre into the east of Poland where it's coverage easily extends into the west of the Ukraine!

At least we finally have a decent air defence system. I wasn't particularly confident with the Rapier.

The presentation would have been a bit more impressive had the launcher been filled with some drill rounds rather than completely empty.

I still think we should commission a long range system. Allow Sky Sabre to mop up those that get through. A lot to be said for multi layered defence. This seems "Eggs all in one basket" to me, or as the Americans say "Betting the farm on it"

Which cost less, CAMM or MICA?
Many countries still pick MICA even though CAMM already is available & even though French surface forces don't even use MICA

I would take the range numbers with a grain of salt. Range is sometimes determined as effective range vs certain types of targets. Air to air missiles can travel 200 miles and take out a slow moving cargo plane, but the range to take out a fast jet would be significantly less as the missile loses energy the further it travels - even ramjet after a certain point

wow, that certainly looks pretty impressive. some pretty impressive calculations going on to control that lot at once... I wonder at what sort of range the missiles own guidance takes over...

Use magnetic proximity fuse in the missile instead of laser fuse

Do you have 15 around every city in uk and Scotland?

These should be set up in the sea or a small boat to help defend any incoming missiles

key detail here - what is the smallest target they would shoot at = cruise missile. smallest...

Britain should look at the otomatic turret mated to surplus challenger 2 hulls (if they havent been gas axed). Drone killer, shore bombardment, rapid fire light anti armour, light indirect fire. Once you have that then a marinised version as a ciws in complement to the 57mm.
