Dana White describes Francis Ngannou's power in he's punches

I think what's happening here is Dana is mistakenly comparing the rate of energy transfer of Ngannou's punch to the rate of energy production of a Ford Escort Engine. These values are both quantified as power but they describe two very different things.

The rate of energy transfer (power) of Ngannou's punch is deceptively high because the impact takes only a fraction of a second. The kinetic energy of Francis Ngannou's punch is being divided by a value less than 1, causing the result to be multiplied.

The rate of energy production (power) of a Ford Escort engine is a consistent amount that's meant to drive the vehicle. This value has nothing to do with being hit by the Ford Escort. It's the power available to accelerate the vehicle consistently over time.

The actual force of the impact between the two is (obviously) incomparable: Being impacted by a Ford Escort going full speed would likely kill you instantly.

For people saying “the Ford escort and sledgehammer would kill you, not his punch.” Yes that is true, but only because a Ford escort is large and made of metal, and a sledgehammer is made of metal. His fist generates the force those objects do. So basically if you compressed getting hit by a Ford Escort into a fist, it would be Francis Ngannou

A sledgehammer conducts power better than a human fist but ngannou has punching power equal to an avarage guy hitting with a sledgehammer, even though his fists conduct that power worse. A car on the other hand will kill you but the same principle is applies as before. But dana is only talking about the force of the initial impact force which means the energy transmitted in first contact. Not the sum of the newtons conducted into your body when that car runs over you. Still that car example is untrue due to the cars ability to accelerate beyond those limits, still dont be too hasty to know whats going on.
