i thought it was funny but chappell is getting some serious hate for taking care of herself and setting basic boundaries. i had tickets yesterday for all things go. i was disappointed that she cancelled, but her mental health comes first and i’d rather have her cancel a show than start coping with alcohol or drugs if it were to get that extreme

the most offensive part of snl isn’t the slight edge, it’s that they’re not funny. You have private university/ivy league writers trying to right working class mad tv sketches and it always feels robotic

I mean ! imo bowen himself is a big fan of chappell, and he’s done a sit - down interview w her before ! that and the nature of drag, making jokes etc . . . much different than plane jane’s vma look imo ! and bowen’s taken personal time for himself before too 🥺💖 that’s why I think he made a point to show support even while dressed as moo deng ! idk I love them both ( parasocially ik ) 😭💖

I honestly laughed at loud at mutliple points during the skit (specifically when he said "society puts women on pedestals but knocks them down with shellfish). I really don't think he was mocking her, I think it was actually the opposite, trying to make an outlandish scenario to put it in perspective for people. And when he said "like an animal in a zoo cage" I think it was trying to make a comparison to how people are treating her so they can realize they're treating her like an animal? I don't know, I think it's kind of out there to say that they were mocking her mental health or anything. But who knows

Personally, I don’t watch SNL anymore but it happened to be on in the living room and I sat down for it and thought it was both supportive of Chappell and all women suffering from people who think they owe anyone their time or attention, and it was even funny to me because sometimes you have to laugh through the pain.
