What do you think of the last explosion? The sheer amount of chemicals stockpiled shocked me tbh.

For the squatting video, at weight like that the spotter can only do so much. He’s there to give a boost if you’re failing, and try to keep the bar from rolling forward as much as he can, but with that weight you can’t do much. Dude should have had the safety bars on that would have caught the bar when he failed. Wicked sad accident. Powerlifting is no joke

For the squatting video:

No one is specifically to blame for what happened as the entire set up was bad to begin with. During a failed squat at this heavy of weight you can

A) Bail and let the bar roll off your back

B)Squat within a rack so the safety bars can catch the weight

C)Use an adequate amount of spotters. Typically one behind as seen in the video and then an additional one on each side of the bar

The fact the spotter was standing right behind him made option A impossible. This would have been infinitely safer if he wasn’t there at all and this would have been avoided. You should still ALWAYS lift within your known limits however and I think the blame lies on the lifter for attempting it in the first place.

Just wanted to say for anyone who is curious about the best course of action for the plane clip - Loss of power on takeoff is pretty much a worst possible scenario for a pilot, albeit one that you usually train for by doing simulated engine failures. Doing a 180 degree turn to land back on the opposing runway is almost universally considered a bad move, because you lose a hell of a lot of energy when you do that and you're always wanting to maintain best glide speed in this scenario. The opposing runway is also usually on a tailwind heading, which is not optimal.

It's best to take off and land into the wind so you generate the most lift. In a situation like the clip, pilots are trained to look straight ahead for a field or straight road to land on as these are usually the safest option. There was the highway off to the left he could have landed on, but the traffic and especially the powerlines are a major hazard. It's possible there was a field or similar space before (or just beyond) the houses that the pilot was aiming towards. Unfortunately, you can't see this clearly in the video.

It also appears that the engine loss occurred without much altitude (probably only 200-300 feet from the looks of it), which significantly limits your options as well, especially when his propeller wasn't even partially functional so there was no additional airspeed that could be generated other than to pitch down and risk hitting terrain. As for why he wasn't talking to anybody (ATC, the passenger, etc.) the priority they drill into you in this scenario is aviate, navigate, communicate. Controlling the plane and looking for a site to land is what you must emphaise in this situation. I hope that makes things clearer for folks!

From Australia, I was a police officer sent to Australia's worst train accident in Granville (Sydney) in 1977. Words cannot describe what I saw. Still haunts me to this day. Praying for everyone involved.

That explosion was unreal! That's why people need to listen to certain rules! Their in place for a reason! Mainly to keep people safe!

The shock, awe, even giggling of the people filming the explosion turning to quiet and then fear as they run to take cover is heart breaking. Like it set in that what they're witnessing is real. Gives me chills. And the fact they don't know what's happening, or why parts of the city are exploding, are they being bombed? Is the next explosion bigger? Are people dead? Are they in danger themselves? Things they wouldn't have answers to in that moment.

These videos really make me think about how fragile, fleeting, and unpredictable life is.

In the first story, I feel so sorry for the young man who described what happened to the passenger right next to him. He will be haunted by that and most likely have a horrible case of PTSD for the rest of his life.

I’m glad I found this channel. I’ve heard of some of these events before but I appreciate that you take your time properly researching everything and delving into the explanations and outcomes.

The explosions were crazy. The shockwaves…hard to comprehend how powerful it was. The volatility of those chemicals seem to always be underestimated. The firefighters really needed to be made aware of what was in there. Potassium reacts explosively with water. It would be terrifying to go through.
Thanks for the video, sir.

That second story is really sad, even with the spotter most of the weight is outside of their range of movement, at that weight it would of been impossible to give any real assistance, you would need 2-3 really big guys to make sure that weight can be controlled, however this fact probably doesn't help the feeling of loss, regret and guilt felt by the guy who was spotting him.

I know I'll never die from powerlifting or scaling a mountain.
Scary stories. May those who passed rest in peace.

The hole left over by the explosion really put it into perspective, especially next to all the huge shipping containers. That image of the glass turned deadly shrapnel really shows how dangerous thinghs can be in these cases. Even the people filming could have been hit with a piece of metal and just taken out, if they were unlucky. The poor firefighters were probably afraid something like an explosion might occur and tried to tackle it fast, having no clue what they were getting into until it was too late.

That explosion was nuts, a conventional explosion so powerful it created a mushroom cloud!

The poor firefighters that were down there. So many died, so many injured, and who knows the long term effects. It takes a special person to run towards a fire like that 💜 i hope their memories live on forever.

The explosion footage truly took my breath away. You outdid yourself on this one. Keep up the amazing work

Hello Ryan. The 2nd video it wasn't just the spotter's fault. The dude is clearly ego lifting (lifting more than one can possibly or physically handle). That weight super heavy and probably would need 2-3 spotters to safely handle. Ego lifting is the number 1 cause of injuries in the gym I believe. This one turns out to be fatal.

Indias railways are amazing. While researching my ancestry, I discovered that my great grandfather grandfather was an engine fitter. I travelled to India with his wife to work there in Lucknow. Amazing,
