Microsoft just laid of 10,000 employees, but that might not have even been their worst moment in the past week. The company just lost out on a $400 million contract to supply the U.S. Army with HoloLens mixed reality headsets.

After a test training session with the headsets, as meany as 80% of soldiers reported being sick, with symptoms like nausea and serious headaches.

But, as disappointing as this news may sound for Microsoft, all hope is not lost. Congress is essentially funding the improvement of the technology by giving Microsoft $40 million to iron out the kinks. Additionally, the government has set aside $22 billion to buy 120,000 headsets over the course of a decade.

So, while other major players in the VR/AR space like Meta, Snapchat, and Apple (soon) are still trying to get costs down for consumers, Microsoft is set to rake in the cash with enterprise and military use cases.
