They are not the first climate refugees. In south Louisiana, many communities including native American tribes have had to be moved out from where they have lived for centuries before the white man came here because of rising water. Miles of what was once land they lived on is now under water and it keeps rising. Louisiana, my state, is losing coastline on a daily basis and has been for a while now. Our seasons are changing and storms are stronger and more frequent. We had a flood event here last year that was called a 1, 000 year flood but it was like nothing anyone had ever seen in recorded history. 100s of thousands of homes that were there for several generations and business were wiped out. Get ready for mass migrations from coastal areas because they are being devastated worldwide. Droughts will also become more severe worldwide which will also force people to migrate. This is happening folks and it is happening far faster due to human causes than natural climate changes. It is affecting wildlife, insects and agriculture too. Lots of human misery is to come from our foolish behavior.
