Tyrael has more reason than most to worry about the potential corruption of heroes. He personally saw the results of a good and noble warrior who slew Diablo but then succumbed to his corruption, to the point of eventually becoming Diablo's new host and unleashing his brothers upon Sanctuary. The first two Diablo games had a theme that fighting evil exacts a toll upon even the most virtuous and heroic of people. You fight against malign supernatural beings, and can even defeat them, to the point of slaying the Lord of Terror himself. However, witnessing the cruelty and horrors that these evils are capable of, along with seeing the constant suffering of innocent people and one's own friends and allies... it's a terrible thing to experience. And nobody who experiences this is going to be the same as before.

Diablo III kind of sidelined this theme: the Nephalem is basically a superheroic figure who goes around slaying Evils left and right. They confront not only the lesser evils of Belial and Azmodan, but eventually they confront even an empowered Diablo: whose strength is fortified by the power of all seven evils united in one form. They travel to the Realm of Terror, slay Diablo in his own realm, and return unscathed to the mortal realm, something which no mortal has ever done before.

The Nephalem subsequently goes on to slay one of the most powerful Angels in existence.

The aftermath of this all is that Heaven and Hell are both severely weakened, Sanctuary is all the more battered by the Eternal Conflict, and Malthael's actions in destroying the Black Soulstone will assure that Diablo and the other Prime Evils will return eventually.

Compared to past Diablo games, these are superhuman feats, let alone things that could be done without any kind of severe personal toll. If you think about the protagonists of Diablo I, they all end up corrupted into the service of the Prime Evils, with one even going on to become Diablo's new host as the Dark Wanderer.

And honestly, the Nephalem as a character has been through some painful times. They've not only had to constantly face the malignant horror of the Prime Evils, but they've also seen great suffering among their friends and allies, and also among innocent people who are caught up in an ancient conflict between immortals that humanity desires no part in. And despite all of their sacrifices, all of their losses and pain, the Eternal Conflict still persists. Despite killing Diablo himself, Sanctuary is still threatened by the Eternal Conflict, since Malthael's desire to exterminate humanity was motivated by the demonic essence that lurks within humans.

It would be hard for the Nephalem NOT to be scarred in some way by what they have seen and experienced.
