This content is razor sharp. The lies took all of these forms! Writing down/documenting the dialogs when the lies happened felt important to me. It was extremely helpful in preserving my memories and sanity in a years-long gaslighting storm. My mistake though was thinking the piles of evidence were for proving my case to my narcissistic abuser. Presenting my evidence only turned up the intensity of the abuse, of course. As soon as I recognized that my evidence files were for me, and not for him, I could begin to free my self.

My X used all these tools to confuse me. I wish I had found you 10 years ago. “The narcissist will never tell you the truth”. So true. He was incapable of NOT lying. He was cheating with a co worker, right under my nose. If I questioned him, he would use all of these tactics to deflect attention away from him…and accuse me of ‘spying’. He became very paranoid and suspicious in the end. Eventually I confronted him with evidence that he was cheating. He responded by assaulting me (he was charged), hurting me and telling me “I need this relationship to be successful at work”. What?

My mother's favorite go to lie, especially when I as the scapegoat caught her in a lie was " I DON'T LIE! IT'S NOT IN MY NATURE!"

The narcissist in my life has one particular tell that gives him away. He lifts one arm out to the side and turns his hand palm up the whole time he's lying. It's an awful thing to witness because I know I'm being lied to. I started tracking him when I realized he was lying continually. It's an awful thing to have to do but one must protect oneself. Most narcs lie continually to their friends and partners and lie about them to others. They have no loyalties and no remorse.

Typical response from Narcissist partner, "What are you talking about?" I called it the What are you talking about to death technique. It's also gaslighting and undermines you. This is in my list of Red flag phrases going forward in relationships! Or he'd flip the question back on me, "Why would I do that?" Even when I wised up to the manipulation and would reply, "You did xyz, so you explain." they won't be honest. Or you get omissions and half-truths.

In addition to repeating a question in a different way, ask the same question later, like a few months later, when something comes up about the subject, but ask it like it's the first time asking.
You'll get different answers a lot.

I accidentally saw a text he sent a friend of his. He called me a, ‘useless tit of a wife’. There was literally no way for him to lie about it. He was sweating, crying, nauseated and I am fairly certain he was close to shitting himself quite literally. I enjoyed it. And I am not sorry I did.
