This question is fairly challenging and aimed at around grade 8 GCSE maths. It deals with solving quadratic simultaneous equations by substitution, and will need good algebra confidence. The whole idea is to, in this case, make x the subject, and 'substitute' into the circle equation.

Solve:
x - 2y = 1
x^2 + y^2 = 13
