What is the importance of picking the Right GCSE Subjects?

In most mainstream schools in the UK, students are allowed to pick some of their own courses.

This is to allow you to study subjects that you are interested in and that will benefit you in your future.

It can be difficult to pick subjects at such a young age as many people don’t know what they want to do as a job at this age.

Whilst this isn’t something that you need to stress about, it is important that you consider your options carefully.

Some providers of courses available after year 11 like you to have studied the course at GCSE.

This could include languages, music, drama, art and more.

If you intend to study science based subjects, it is important that you do well in science at GCSE.

One way to do this is to choose to study Triple Science if this is available to you.

This means you would spend more time studying science than your peers.

If you plan to take a vocational course such as engineering or beauty at post-16, you should
consider what subjects may link to these when making your choices.

Choosing GCSE options that you intend to study long term can also give you the chance to try studying a subject at some length before committing to this at a level.

This could increase your confidence in studying a subject further if you find you don’t like the subject.

It is always a good idea to look at entry requirements for both college and university prior to making your choices.

By doing this you can ensure that you pick the subjects you need to progress to your next steps.
Making choices around your GCSE options can seem daunting but with research and consideration, you can do everything you can to make the right decision.
