It's always disappointing to lose in the national championship game, especially against a team you have previously beaten by three scores. But I still think this Alabama team overachieved given how young and inexperienced they were. All season, Saban was making comments that made it seem like he didn't believe this team had what it takes to win the title, but this game was very much in reach until the very end.

The main thing that hurt Alabama all season and killed them in this game was the one-dimensional offense. They could never establish a consistent running game and the passing game really only ran through two receivers, both of whom were missing after the first quarter in this game. Outside of Metchie and Williams, it is really shocking how limited Alabama's talent was at receiver. We first saw that in the Iron Bowl, when Williams went out and the offense started giving us flashbacks to 2004. There were an unbelievable number of drops in this game - I can't remember any game where I've seen more. You can't make those kinds of mistakes against a great defense like Georgia. The portal has resolved some of the off field and locker room issues Alabama had in that position group last year, so hopefully that will combine with more experience to create a better outcome this year.

The secondary was another problem all season that was further exacerbated by injuries. Georgia really did a great favor to Alabama by seeming determined to win it on the ground. For some reason, it took their coaching staff 7.5 quarters to realize that pass coverage was the defense's weakness, and that slow response massively hurt Georgia in the SEC championship and nearly cost them the rematch as well. Once they finally put that together, they started moving the ball at will.

While 2021 was a rebuilding year for Alabama, almost all of the key pieces returned for 2022. They also added some big names in the transfer portal. 13-2, SEC champion and national runner-up exceeded expectations for 2021, but 15-0 should be the expectation for 2022.

I have watched this a hundred times at least. The blocking after that final interception was absolutely game winning. Congrats to the Dawgs

*GEORGIA* probably should have won the Natty at the end of the 2017 season by a blowout of 2+ scores, but Alabama said “if you won’t finish it - we will!” & we got what we deserved. *GEORGIA* probably should have won the 2018 SEC Championship by a blowout of 2+ scores, but Alabama put us in our place again. . .& they EARNED the W. Well-earned!

To the true football fans that root for Alabama: great game. This was *NOT* a great or even “typical” season for Alabama. . .& somehow, y’all still fought your way into the SEC & Nat’l Championship games (in one of which you gave us our only loss & beatdown of the season). That’s an absolutely frightening fact for 99.98% of the League! (whether they admit it or not) All the respect in the world to you. Saban & Kirby and the behemoths they’ve constructed aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. . .& we better get better at winning more of these head-to-heads or it’s gonna be trouble. #GoDAWGZ

To the imbeciles making your fanbase look pathetic by crying about calls, injuries & the like: you snuck by a 6-7 Florida team that Georgia throttled, a 6-7 LSU team, a 4-loss Arkansas team that Georgia obliterated, a 6-7 Auburn team that Georgia humiliated and you lost to a 4-loss Texas A&M team. Cut the shullbit. Your record won’t say it, but there were some exceptionally poor performances all season. Alabama’s the greatest ever precisely by NOT making the excuses y’all are vomiting right now. Take a lesson from the real members of your fanbase who watch, love & understand football. . .or start rooting for

I'm a die hard Ducks fan an as much as I get tired of hearing how great the SEC is an how football means more over there, blah blah blah... I gotta say, this is one of the better national championship games I can remember watching. Hats off to both teams an mainly to Stetson Bennett. Quite the college football story he's writing for himself at Georgia. Looking forward to our match together to kickoff the 2022 season.

Stetson's "fumble" was way more of a pass than Young's "pass" could have ever been.

Chills and tears for me at the end of this game. Going all the way back to the days of Coach Dooley it had been a long time coming for Georgia to win it all.

The Braves and Dawgs finally ended the Georgia curse. I can't remember a state with more playoff wins and so few championships. Hopefully that curse stays gone

For the bama fans saying it should have been 28-6 at half i say it should have been 17-0 at half Georgia with the young fumble at the beginning of the game but either way 33-18 dawgs on top

Refs kind of handed a touchdown to Alabama. His hand was going forward.

Bama fans complain about their injured receivers but I don't notice them giving the 2009 Natty trophy to Texas after Colt McCoy got hurt! Injuries are part of the game and Bama got at gift touchdown from the refs on the Stetson Bennett forward pass that the refs called a fumble. Without that the beatdown would have been worse! Great game, love watching the highlights to this! Great job Georgia after all of the heartbreaking close loses to Bama over the last few years!

When are we going to get a documentary on the epic matchups between these 2. The story of Jaylen, Tua, and Mac, as well as story of Stetson which I admire the most even as a Bama fan. Both programs are rich with exciting history and it needs to be taken advantage of.
