I review, breakdown and explain Fargo Season 5 Episode 10. I discuss the season finale which was focussed on Juno Temple as Dorothy as she escaped Roy Tillman’s ranch. I react to Ole Munch’s speech at the end whilst eating the biscuit, his origin and true identity, Witt Farr’s death, Lorraine being accepting of Dorothy, Gator having an arc of redemption and Roy ending up in prison. I also discuss the ending, the deeper meaning and the connections and easter eggs to the Fargo movie from 1996.

Ole Munch washing his hands I think means that he has been baptized and cleansed for his sins. Munch happily eating the biscuit means that he's free from debt too. Munch seems puzzled by the kindness and generosity of Dot's family. He was sort of like a frightened kitten that they win over.

Jennifer Jason Leigh did the darn thing. I love her performance. Everyone was exceptional .

The "No daughter of mine" comment was the turning point in the relationship between Dorothy and the MIL.

I think this season was one of the best seasons of television I have EVER seen. I loved the tone so much and the acting was just phenomenal. I knew Juno Temple was great from Ted Lasso, but she seriously blew me away with the intense commitment she had portraying this character. And it goes for the rest of the cast as well.

The Coen Brothers are my favorite filmmakers and I'm in such awe that the legacy of one of their seminal works is still being honored today with such exceptional execution. 10/10 for me

Sam Spruell absolutely stole the finale. What a great performance. And of course, Juno throughout the whole season. Class!

This season and particularly this finale were pretty much perfect, I agree that Juno Temple absolutely smashed her role out of the park. My only disappointment is that the season has ended, I could watch a whole season based purely on Ole Munch, one of the most interesting characters in any show I've ever seen.

I don’t know how anyone could make a finale more beautiful than this. The final shot of Munch experiencing forgiveness after 500 years of being a Sin Eater made me cry. I love the juxtaposition of the 3 Lyons using their faith the do good in the world compared to the Tillmans’ corrupt faith. Dot and her family’s love, joy, and compassion triumphed over Roy’s arrogance and brutality. I can’t express how deeply the ending affected me. 💕

Munch started the show at the house as a hooded hitman. The show finished with him happy eating biscuits in the same house. Brilliant writing.

What a great season of the show! I just want to reiterate what I said in the video, THANKS for tuning into the Fargo videos every week it's been good fun discussing theories in the comments with you all. As I mentioned, I'll be releasing my breakdown of Fargo (1996) in the next couple of days as i'm still working on it. Let me know what you thought of the finale below!

This should really boost Sam Spruell’s career. He was awesome in the role of Ole Munch 😂

OLE:
The food was not food. It was the sins of the rich and greedy. It tasted bitter, but the man ate it because he was starving. Now he cannot sleep and he cannot dream.
Dorothy
That's how it is. What they do to us...But you know what is the cure.
It is this food made with love and joy and you sins will be forgiven...COMMUNION

That one conversation between God (Dorothy channeling the Creator and Ole ( the sinner who feels trapped with no escape) until he has eaten of love and joy...The the chains of sin fall away like smoke of a dead fire.

I've never seen a more perfect piece of acting and dialog in any media.

I must admit that I had an unexpected laugh in an intense scene, with Ole Munch holding the orange soda and out of nowhere, his bottle being clinked :)

I think the scene between Lorraine and Roy in prison was also intended to illustrate that even though the rich and powerful could influence the extent of the prison sentence Roy received from the courts, the real power of punishment is ultimately held by extra-judicially by the rich.

Roy stated that prison society was to him almost a utopian hierarchical structure, so in one sense he was not imprisoned but in fact liberated - Lorraine then turned it on its head that with the power of money and debt the rich can manipulate that hierarchy to mete out whatever brand of justice they wish, outside of the legal system. While we may revel at Roy receiving an Old Testament punishment, the darker message is that true power lies outside of our laws and institutions.

Very strong season. All the players brought an amazing force of commitment. I also teared up at the loss of "My Trooper" The ending was beautiful and also filled with tension. Overall, one of my favorite seasons and shows. Appreciate your breakdowns so much! Cheers!

Excellent recap and analysis. Particularly your points on Ole Munch. I agree Juno Temple was spectacular. She's become one of those actors I trust implicitly to go deep and deliver *every* time. I also appreciate you lining up the original Fargo clips so perfectly as to show their recreation in Easter eggs. Really helpful visual! You're awesome, keep being awesome, please. Thanks!
