I wouldn't be surprised if the free up RAM button is really just a batch script to taskkill anything Chrome.

Linus fighting the shelves is one of the most relatable things I’ve ever seen. Every damn time.

I am happy to know that no amount of money can fix the stupidness of shelf studs; I was beginning to think this was a poor mans problem.

Hey Linus, cabinetry tip: *Use some thin wire or small slivers of wood as shims for your shelf pins.)* Most of the time, the shelf holes are always just a fraction of millimeter too big, and they'll slip out when too much weight is on them, but this is a trick I've learned over the years that works rather well. Hope that helps solve one first world problem 😄 haha😂

The shelf scene was the best "Dont help just film" moment ever.

Does not matter if it is a gaming room with the latest tech or just a playstation hooked up to an ol tube TV: There is nothing more awesome as a child when your parents actually play video games with you and show interest in the things you like instead of playing the adult cart and not even trying to care. So many good memories playing LEGO racer with my dad or completing the Left 4 Dead series with my brother and booth dad and mom. Just great times that we will never forget <3

MSI cooling usually can't even survive an air conditioned room, most of their cases are basically convection ovens.

Linus is just the ultimate form of the “Thermostat Dad” turned up to over 9000.

Remember all the LCD Logitech keyboards that promised to same features as that screen? As a full time AIDA64 user, I can see how useful it can be if your tower is next to you. I mean a smartphone could fill in that exact role if the right program was available but this is the best implementation of it I've seen yet. Onya, Linus!

I hate those types of shelves that just rest on pegs that go in stepped holes. Even if they all fit correctly there's always the possibility you might still knock the shelf and have stuff fall. I'd much rather just securely screw everything in with brackets

@linus, your AV closet would have been much better if it had been situated somewhere that you could have gotten to all the components from the back as well as the front making cable management and hooking everything up much easier!

Love these more homely type vids. Linus doing Linus things in the home setting, sacrificing things like shelf integrity and possibly sanity to get things working, is always a wholesome watch

How to make shelf studs universal. Throw them out and run a semi flexible metal 3/8in-10mm rod from one side to the other and place shelf on them.

The poles need to be strong but just flexible enough that you can slightly bend them to go into the holes.

If it is a free standing piece of furniture you can instead drill where the stud holes are to make them pass through. Get metal rods pre threaded or thread the ends. Buy flat top barrel nuts that can screw onto the rod ends. Slide the pole all the way through the holes and cap the ends to keep in place (most Barrel Nuts use hex drivers/Allen Keys). You can even countersink them if you want to place a decal over them to match the furniture.

Last step is to buy thin wood slats that you can cut to length. Glue to the bottom of the shelf, one in front of the front rod and one against the back of the rear rod. This will keep the shelves from shifting back and forth while still being able to lift them off for cleaning or transport and also hides the bar when looking head on at the shelf.

I know it seems like a long process because it is in written form, but honestly, outside of measuring and cutting (and painting/staining for the slats) the whole process is really quick.

Tips:

On free standing bookshelves/shelves, make sure that the rod goes halfway into the hole on both sides so that you aren't relying on the barrel nuts to hold weight.

Test the rods flexibility in store to get a feel for it and also see if it stays bowed or goes back to straight.

Make sure the thread on your rod matches your nuts.

Yes, instead of having actual airflow and putting the screen on the side, let’s keep the solid front panel and increase thickness with a screen. Good to see msi prebuilts are still garbage from conception to execution in 2023.

The mesh doors and mesh shelves are really brilliant, i dig your silicone fan mounting too.

All in all a really smart way to cool a cabinet.

I think I’ll be taking inspiration from this in upgrading some of my own shelves to mesh.

In regard to the receiver, I'm not sure if you're seeing the same problem that I've seen with my Denon (X3800H), but there are times where I just *cannot* get a signal from my PC. Usually, it's just a weird issue with the receiver as I just need to power cycle it or sometimes just switch inputs. Although, once last week, I had to power cycle the PC because nothing else would work. I did a bit of reading awhile ago, and one remark I found was that it *might* be an HDCP issue. The Denon receiver will default to the AUTO setting, which means it has to determine the proper HDCP mode each time, and if it gets it wrong... no input. One person reported setting it manually for the input helped alleviate any issues. To note, I also see the same problem from time to time with my Apple TV.
