hey guys , here is the fourth video in our american tour series …. this one comes from the beautiful city of chicago.

there were so many songs that we could have chosen - we did a load of research in to old blues and jazz artists and talked about maybe covering ray charles or sam cooke . there are some real legends from this neck of the woods .

in the end though we decided to have a bit of fun and cover a song from the eighties called “hard to say i’m sorry” and the tenuous link is that the band is called chicago :-)
i have to admit that power ballads have always been a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine . i also feel quite nostalgic when listening to music from this era as songs like this would have been floating around my (silly little pointy) ears when i was small ;-)
it was a cool challenge also to take a song that was recorded in such a different style and bring it in to our folky little world .

guys - we had over a thousand shares on the last video . thats the most we’ve ever had and i’m so so grateful . its such an amazing pay off to see these little videos get to so many people . please keep on sharing as much as you can .

This group has such a unique sound and I really have enjoyed listening to them for the first time tonight. I've listened to only a few of their songs and I appreciate the heart the lead singer has. 

I, like many others, know this song inside out from way back when and when you hear it these days, you think, "Oh man! I love this song!" Of course we do.. Chicago had the full orchestra and your entire body would vibrate and tingle during a concert. Their concerts were like incredible meals. You went home feeling full, completely satisfied and you were already reminiscing over the courses. 

As for this cover, this is truly owned by Passenger. They totally made it theirs, with the unique folk sound that breathes throughout this entire piece. It just didn't work for me, it pulled me down and I felt a little worn down after the song finished. I was feeling sad, not because of the lyrics, but the weight of the song.. I felt like I was in a funeral procession at one point. I hope I'm not sounding too critical because that's not my intention. The other songs I listened to, I didn't have this feeling and went away satisfied. This just came out too heavy for me. 

This band is really so very talented, I wish them HUGE success in America!
