When I listen to the 1975 I hear love, drugs, sex, heartbreak, and truth. And yes alot of mainstream artists can sing about the same things, but the 1975 does it in such a beautiful way. Most artists can sing about these things without any emotion. The 1975 does it with such great emotions, even when they perform it live i can see and hear powerful emotions. The 1975 is one of the best bands i've ever listened to. Because life isn't about all these things we nowadays hear in music. Life is much more complicated and painful than that. Lets just say life fucks us all and thats the real truth.

I love the 1975, not because I'm a teenager trying too hard to be alternative, but because I'm so entranced by their lyrics. The way that they sing them almost romanticises the vice of life like drugs violence and sex, but does not glamourise it like eg. 80% of the mainstream music industry. The contrasts are so beautiful, presenting that life can be imperfect and broken, yet elegant and aesthetic, a chaotic beauty, a thorny rose.

to me this song sounds like everyone talking to matty and always demanding something of him. friends, family, girlfriends or whoever, lyrics like "how can you complain about life and talk about being bored?" or "you think youre well cool, you just write about sex and killing yourself and how you hardly ever went to school" sound like his friends being exhausted and sick of him being like this. to me, the lyric "howre you getting on with your life?" sounds like it could be asked by a therapist. everyone is demanding something from matty and his only response is "yeah its alright" because hes sick of everyone being on his back

this song i think is my favorite by them today. the sound is so melodic and relaxing, yet the lyrics contain a deeper meaning, like most The 1975 songs. i feel like some of their music has such a simple idea - whether it be small town fun or heart break - but it takes them in the form of human perspective, which is a lot more complicated than the idea itself. that's what i like so much about The 1975. the way they introduce themselves in each song lyrically and instrumentally kind of makes you want to fall in love with their music. it's very aesthetically pleasing.
