David Adedeji Adeleke, better known as Davido, was born on November 21, 1992 in Atlanta, United States, and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. He is the son of Nigeria's billionaire businessman Dr. Deji Adeleke and mother Vero Adeleke. Davido fuses traditional African vibes with global mainstream pop to create a sound that is both interesting and infectious. He made his musical debut with KB International. He studied business management at Oakwood University before dropping out to create beats and master his talent. Davido relocated to London to improve on his vocals. When Davido returned to Nigeria in 2011, he put his singing career on hold and agreed to attend Babcock University in honor of his father. In July 2015, he received his music degree from Babcock College. He quickly progressed from club-ready early songs to charting tunes and collaborations with big names like Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown on his 2020 album A Better Time, which debuted on the Billboard 200. Davido won Best African Act at the 2017 MOBO Awards and Best International Act at the 2018 B,E,T Awards, making him the first African musician to accept an award on the main stage.
