In this episode, I cover how to replace a u-joint on a Honda CRV driveshaft. Typically these driveshafts are not serviceable, however this is a work-a-round if you have time and tools but little money.

Nice to see the classics still on the road 30 years later....

I replaced my driveshaft last spring. Pretty easy job and the part was cheap on Amazon. Thanks for the video.

I replaced my driveshaft on my 2001 RD1 and the u joint is not staked on the replacement driveshaft...so I ordered two extra u joints to do a replacement if I need for the video! 😎

Craftsmanship: making something out of nothing and making it work. Excellent video..

Yeah I just replaced the whole thing. BTW that is an exact replica of my Honda. Thanks for the tips.

Thanks for an honest real world video. I agree I would spend the money for a new driveshaft.

Hey I love watching your videos. I'm having an issue with my '97 CRV getting a ticking from the lower end. Wondering if you know if it's possible to remove and replace the crank bearings from the bottom without pulling the engine. Like on old Chevy 350s?

I’ve seen where the driveshaft off Amazon is terribly balanced and it causes vibrations on 4WD engaged. I wish Honda would have thought this through a little better.

Unfortunately their like Bmwx3 3.0 front driveshafts..."lifetime"😂😂
But everything is repairable...to some degree!
Stupid Question but....
If I remove the ABS fuse....will it only be front wheel drive???
On my Awd 2001 crv 2.0?

This can be done correctly with milling machine. Unfortunately, the cost is prohibitive. And you end up with weakened ears on that drive shaft. Since material was removed. Even with a crunch, I'd just leave the drive shaft out.

Wonder why Honda made them to be non serviceable in the first place? Well, this is the same company that gave us captive brake rotors on 1996 Accord which was a labor intensive nightmare brake jobs.
