Agreed. Del Shannon & Roy Orbison were probably the only early '60's artists that were still relevant to the early '90's audience...He probably would have still had a great career to this day, had he decided to live.

The Crime Story series brought him new respect when Runaway was used as the theme for the series, with Del singing new lyrics. They did a 'tip of the hat' tribute to him in the show when he died...

It's sad that the sound quality to this video clip isn't that great, but Del Shannon still brought the performance to life. I was on my way to work when it was announced that Del Shannon was found dead. A couple of hours later I learned that he took his own life and for me it was a sad day. I felt sad just when I heard the shooting of John Lennon and the death of Roy Orbison two years before. Del Shannon's music will never be forgotten because many are influenced by his music. In a concert in 1989 in Australia, Del Shannon told his audience that he's not a comic and he doesn't tell stories he only Rocks and Roll. Than he started his performance. He always told his fans to...Keep Rockin!!! Max Crook always said that Del Shannon was kind and compassionate. He was man that loved his fans.

Supposedly Del was tired of being known as Del "Runaway" Shannon. He also wrote some good songs for other artists, "I Go to Pieces" being one of them. He is approx. 53 years old in this vid and still sounding good!

Listen to this voice, it was clear as a bell, Prozac helped kill him, Del had just started taking it, and it gave him insomnia, i read Del hadnt slept well in 5 or 6 nights...and then came his tragic decision. The fans Del, I still cant understand why he would make such as FINAL decision. But Ive suffered woith depression, it can be real Darkness. And Dell suffered with it all his life.So he lost the battle. I miss him so much. Beware of Darkness, the song adresses Our Spirit.

Del had a lot of friends in the music business that loved him, and George Harrison was one of them. Beware of darkness could of had some meaning in Del's suicide.

He was on a real wave of success when he died... Runaway had been re-introduced to the public as the theme for the Crime Story TV series, and it was a great way to stay in the limelight and get paid. Good man, done too soon.

I dont understand, Why Couldnt he feel the love???? Audiences everywhere loved him, Del was a part of Americana.... His music was so powerful, timeless. He still would have been loved if he was alive today with all his great hits... Its too trajic? he was a tremendous writer, performer. Clear powerful voice....Why why?
