bla-bla-bla... as usual

*Summary:*
MIT research indicates artificial superintelligence (ASI) may be imminent. AI dramatically accelerates scientific discovery, particularly in materials science, compressing the innovation cycle and raising concerns about job displacement. Deep learning's application, especially GNNs, enables rapid material design, resulting in a surge in new discoveries and patents. However, this progress highlights the need for scientists to reskill, with one researcher stating their education felt "worthless." The observed efficiency gains and potential for AI to effectively outsource tasks to scientists suggest ASI's arrival is approaching, promising unprecedented technological and societal change.

EVERYONE NEEDS to read “I have no mouth, but I must scream.” The story was written in 1967 and if you apply 1967 tech and the geo political situation of that time, the story would seem implausible. However, if you APPLY the same parameters to today and entertain unrestricted self-machine learning, the story is not only plausible but LIKELY. I think Ellison saw our time.

When I think of ASI, it's not just that it will be smarter than the smartest humans, but also that it can self-improve its intelligence by changing its code.

I for one welcome our new ASI overlord.

the innovative approach Aliagents is taking with tokenized AI agents is seriously next level

The author discusses the implications of a recent MIT paper on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for scientific discovery and product innovation. The paper explores AI's potential to accelerate scientific breakthroughs, leading to a "compressed 21st century" where decades of progress are condensed into a few years. The author highlights the potential of AI to revolutionize fields like Material Science, enabling faster and more efficient discovery of new materials.
The author also touches upon the impact of AI on the scientific workforce, noting that while AI can boost productivity, it also raises concerns about job displacement and the need for researchers to adapt and reskill.
Overall, the author is optimistic about the transformative potential of AI in scientific discovery but also acknowledges the need to address the workforce implications and societal adjustments that will accompany this rapid technological advancement.

Super cool that you started to add this closing screens. You could also do it on audio level, as I often just listen to you. Love your enthusiasm! Keep going bro. Good stuff!

Thank you for going over Level 4 innovators because no one talks about it.

Across all the sciences it is already like we’re having breakthroughs every other week from AI/LM

2:25 I’m a professional inventor. Did double PhD program in AI and philosophy.
This is not how me and my collegues invent. It is closer to how we innovate solutions to intermediate engineering problems or other well specified problems. It is valuable but not what we do.

I'm really curious to see if we combine Quantum Computering and AI what will the outcome be, and if it's able to pull ideas from other line of thoughts from the QC thought process to make a better idea. Could you run a thought experiment on what would it look like if or when they combine the two processes that are being worked on?

Honestly the aging thing is wild, because with ASI coming it will speedrun this shit, if its physically possible, anyone who survives the next 5 years might live as long as they want. The living to 150 is the conservative take (how wild is that). AKA with AI speeding things up with its current capability.

But lets say it happens, lets say i have 100 or so years of life ahead of me, what will AI have discovered in 80 years at the current rate its going? Probably even more life lenghtening tech. But how fast will AI itself be in 80 years? Perhaps ASI. At that point speed is crazy, we know some animals dont age... Its not out of the picture that we reach escape velocity with aging

I did several exercises with Chat GPT and AGI or ASI is not needed to start making some major breakthroughs, example if Chat GPT had access to all the medical data it would be able to come up with many theories, new treatments etc. Ofcourse Chat GPT always reminds me that with privacy laws and such getting most data is hard, which I find strange given our own government litery sells all our data to other countries.

Anywho I also think if we are hearing about AI, AGI, ASI etc now, that the military has about a 1-2 year maybe more advance on what we hear about so AGI and ASI could verywell be here, we just aren't prevy to that knowledge.

A bus is also used for scientific discovery. It helps many scientists get to work to do the discoveries. Not much videos about it tho..

Not a chance with current models. No self awareness or self goal-setting, no 'drive' of its own at all. Per-instance persistent memory isn't enough for it to learn overall and if they are pinning their hopes on 'emergent behaviour' well that's just wishful thinking.
