You might want to lock the cages of all the animals even if they're not escape risks. Our local indie pet store had their turtle stolen right out of his tank. It was caught on camera, dude put the turtle in the wee little backpack his toddler had on.

Both my husband and I have had to patch a few roofs in our life. The silicone will last a few months but the best thing to do is get a 5 gallon bucket of kool seal and a cheap mop and mop it on thick and it will last years and you don't have to constantly redo the silicone. And maybe put pictures on the sides of the frozen food sign. I cant wait to visit your zoo one day.

You know you’ve been watching SD for too long when you hear “Ed bought a monitor” and think Ed spontaneous bought a huge lizard

The fact that they're opening their own business, doing EVERYTHING by hand as much as they can, and keeping up with youtube and patreon is amazing. You guys deserve so much!!!

Can I just say that I love how Mandy just chilled like a gremlin when they were placing the Orange Bity Things in their new homes-

Can’t wait for the zoo to be open I’ve never been to America but when I do this is the first place I’m going to 💗✨

You guys should make a care sheet for each animal you sell or adopt out and make people fill it out before they can take their pet home so you know they are going to good homes!

Im just imagining Ed’s dad running around picking up leaves in Florida and being labeled as : florida man confused postal workers by mailing “disinfected leaves” 😂

Mandy has been such a big help through all of this. Let’s all give her a round of applause. Copy and paste this to show your support

The fact that the roofing company said “yeah you’re gonna need a whole new roof” and you literally just patched it with silicone and it was fine.... 👀👀👀

you should 100% Ask for 1 or 2 references when someone wants too adopt. My local stores do, and the amount of people we get warned about is helpful.

"Everything is a boomerang if you throw it upwards." I have gained so much knowledge today. Also good job guys! I'm so proud of how far you've come! Good luck with the retail opening!

I just told my husband we are driving 6 hours to visit once the zoo is also open. He took it well considering he does not share my reptile love! Wishing you guys success!!!

So glad Ed just appears randomly on video instead of us having to beg to see him. He is confident now💪👍⭐
So proud 💖

FYI! Part of my local animal shelter's screening for reptiles is to show proof of the enclosure and basic needs met before they process the adoption!

and it might be helpful to make a feeding hole in the tarantula/invert cubes to drop food into rather than people opening the container to feed them and risk an escape/bite

I would suggest a $40 adoption fee. That’s what all of my rescues have cost me and I think it’s at the right price where it isn’t too expensive to ward off interested people but not too cheap to where someone will just take it because it’s cheap.
My 3 rescue babies are named Iroh, Zuko and Kai. 💕🥰
Edit: 1 year later and a sweet girl has entered the mix. Her name is June (mole lady from ATLA).

All I can think of is the fish from the beginning of Lilo and Stitch.
"Lilo, why is this so important?"
"Pudge controls the weather."

I would suggest having pamphlets for each different species or a short list of their basic requirements nearby their cage so that it sets the customer’s expectations right away about what this animal needs from them to thrive! I would also add you can put a sign up with the basic step-by-step of your adoption process so people can get at least a first impression of how it will all work 😊✨
Can’t WAIT to visit the facility someday, it’ll be so worth the trip! See you someday, from Chicago ✌️
