- Yes, there is possibly some impact on the validity of Google’s current advertising model if people seek individual responses instead of the current search engine results page
- However, people are accustomed to free and OpenAi will have to figure out a model too
- OpenAI has deep flaws including data only to 2021 and the inability to include links as one example
- Currently, no strong formatting or image inclusion to improve understanding
- ChatGPT is over capacity and not functioning several times since launch already
- Look at the speed Google released Imagen and Phenaki to show what they want to do when motivated and inspired

I'm biased, but good take. Taking it to planet-scale is a whole other game. You also need much better safety filters (is even 6 nines enough when every controversial answer becomes a headline?).

To steelman the ChatGPT-booster case: it's the argument from Christensen's disruption theory. The disruptor starts out as a small-scale product that is almost laughed at by the giant incumbents, but it starts capturing the lower segment of the market (the segment that Goliath is not worried too much about losing) and then slowly eats its way upwards.

I also don't think Google will be replaced by chatGPT, that's the obvious thing, although chatGPT can generate answers very quickly, but that's it.

I am more interested in the chatGPT essay, I think it can inspire us to train other models
