Love his honesty. Always have. And he should’ve won. It makes no sense that every aspect of the film is Oscar worthy but not the guy who LEAD IT in front and behind the camera?! Who helped develop the script with his buddy Chris (who did win the Oscar).

Argo won best director fot the BAFTAs, Grammys and Directors Guild. Winning the Grammys is a good indicator that you win the Oscar. The fact he wasn't even nominated for the Academy Awards is strange. Esp since it was nominated for Best Motion Picture and won. Very strange indeed by the Academy

The reason Ben didn't win is because the true story was absolutely amazing, but Ben decided to change it into fiction. If he had just teld the true story, that was even crazier than what he came up with, he would have been nominated and won.

It's a decent movie, but it is not like his direction was master class or anything. He should be grateful Hollywood loves to smell their own farts and embraced a movie about Hollywood Producers collaborating with the C.I.A. to rescue hostages from Terrorists.
Movie coasted on that good will to win all those awards, not because Affleck is some dynamo director.

Lady Gaga has been nominated for best song several times and never won for best actress. Because the Oscar’s feels she’s a singer not an actress.
In the same vein they feel Ben Affleck is an actor not a director and therefore don’t nominate him. This happens a lot and often
