What is the most important factor for you when deciding how to workout?

I have FitXR and Supernatural. I cancelled my overpriced gym membership so reallocated that money to buy the Oculus VR headset & apps. FitXR: I found that while FitXR has a greater variety of workouts boxing, hiit, dance, etc. that I had to be really precise when hitting the targets since there wasn't much allowable range (hiit mostly). Also, the trainer avatars are really creepy looking with their white eyes. The locations have increased since this video was made which allows for more variety to choose from. It definitely has a gym feel to it. The workouts are challenging so you do sweat. I just don't feel drawn to it like I do Supernatural.
Supernatural is an experience that I don't think compares to other fitness apps. The getting started tutorials on the headset and here on YouTube are really good for anyone just getting started in VR and fitness. The landscapes are so incredible. Just wow! Never a fan of classical music, I tried a Sweat Symphony and have been hooked ever since! Same with all of the music mixes and artist collections that they feature including Lady Gaga, Katie Perry, Cold Play, The Weekend, Imagine Dragons and more. The coaches are fun, kind, encouraging and motivating -it's also nice to connect to their community on FB (if you still FB). I started at low intensity and in less than 3 months am doing high intensity - everyone learns at their own pace. I have days where I do low intensity because that's what feels and serves me the best. It's never a competition on Supernatural (unless you make it one) it's an experience. A great way to release pent up energy which lowers cortisol so gets rid of that wired and tired feeling. There is an easy transition into flow or 'the zone' with this that I haven't found with other apps. Since you're in another world with someone coaching and encouraging you, it's easy to shed the BS that weighs you down. You have the option to turn off coaching using focus mode which I like as an option, especially for workouts I repeat over and over. The warm up and cool down are still coached which is nice. I like their stretch and meditation sessions too. I paid for the annual membership with Supernatural and got a free mat which has a knob in the center. I like being able to feel center with my foot to realign since the workout has you turning 360 degrees. I also bought grips for the controllers ($15) which help keep them from sweat sliding away. After the workout I wipe down the headset and controllers with baby wipes so cleaning is easy. Results: No forcing myself to workout anymore. I can burn 300-500 calories per workout (according to my Garmin watch). I've lost 8 lbs. in 2 months. Emotional eating and cravings are gone. I sleep a lot better. Soreness is a thing so epsom salt baths and massages helped - especially at the beginning. I'm happier and have a much more positive outlook. I'm calmer and less reactive to things and people. I laugh more and feel more love and joy in my life. I'm buying one for my staff and we're creating a fitness area in the warehouse, everyone is contributing the fitness equipment they're not using so we have our own gym at work. So far we have a treadmill, urban rebounder, spin bike and waiting for Oculus to arrive. That's just my experience. Thanks for reading - I know this was long.

I've been using Supernatural pretty obsessively since it debuted last April. I never worked out before, but the combination of the immersion factor of VR plus the incredibly expansive music, incredible coaches, and beautiful landscapes has proven to be the magic formula that I needed to incorporate exercise into my daily life. I have not used FitXR, but based on what I have seen, I don't think it would come close to the experience that I get from SN. To your point about power scores and the frustration associated with it, I hear what you're saying. That said, it hasn't bothered me, and actually the further I get into my fitness journey, the less I care about my score or getting diamonds. I care about the sweat, and I care about the increased stamina I've gained. I don't want to see SN "gamified" more, and would probably enjoy it more if the scores were eliminated. What I love about SN, and what makes it so much more appealing to me than say, Beat Saber, is that SN removes failure. If you miss targets, you don't get some big red "X", and the music doesn't fade or stop. It's encouraging you to push through, and if you do, and if you do regularly, you'll get results far more meaningful than points. Just my 2 cents...

I appreciated the review, but I wish you wouldn't discount the warm ups and cool downs and people over 60. I am 67, there is lots of good music on Supernatural, even some that I recognize from my years as a teenager. :-) So much choice, And I do every warm up and cool down and sometimes the stretches and a low and a medium intensity workout everyday. You will be this age too, before you know what hit you. LOL So remember your audience may not be who you envisioned.

Love, love, love Fit XR!!! Boxing, dancing and HIIT are my favorite workouts. Sure supernatural has nice backgrounds, but it just reminded me of beat saber. Supernatural is kind of a one-trick pony, whereas Fit XR has a ton of variety and the music is pretty good.

To me it’s Supernatural hands down. I don’t mind the higher fee because the backdrops and music are much better. Also, having a larger stable of moves, and the satisfaction of “batting” the spheres is fun. I tried FitXR in hopes I’d get better cardio, but since I don’t - I’m out. Supernatural in a landslide for me.

Addicted to Supernatural. I do it every day. It’s a great workout, I’ve toned up, lost inches and weight. I love the music and the variety of workouts with new ones every day. They’ve added boxing which is great. I downloaded FitXR, tried it a few times and got bored with it quickly. I don’t like the settings or the music. With SN, I work out all over the world. Great Wall of China, volcanos, mountain tops. The price is well worth it for all you get.

For me Supernatural gives the better workout. With FitXR you remain in one spot with your boxing moves, whereas the 360 degree workout with twists and turns give me a better feel. The music is also a great motivator for me. I’m an old fart (62) and there is a lot of classic rock, jazz and even classical music that really has me moving even more. FitXR does give me a decent workout, but Supernatural takes it (for me) to a new level, plus it’s a lot of fun.

After watching this, I gave both Supernatural and FitXR a try. In FitXR, I could not get past the weird mannequin instructors or the fact I could not adjust squat depth for an injury recovery - which you can in Supernatural. I have been using Les Mills Bodycombat and it gives me a better workout according to my fitbit. The timing of the strikes seems more realistic and there's more time to actively engage the whole core instead of the SN's rapid succession. But... I am adding Supernatural because the multi directional workouts and environments are SO fun. I really like their instructors too. I put SN 3rd favorite behind Les Mills Bodycombat and Audio Trip.

Supernatural engages me with the music and locations. It removes me from reality and allows me to focus on the work out with natural beauty. Plus I burn calories with fuels my goals. I haven’t tried FitXR, but I’m happy with Supernatural.

Supernatural for me. I bought the Quest 2 to help with ongoing vertigo issues, and thought I would use a fitness app. I tried both and found that the gorgeous graphics, fun trainers and music were perfect for me. It’s about the same price as a gym membership. Since I can’t currently make my car head in the direction of my gym, supernatural is My next best thing.

I think the trainers and the quality landscapes and graphics alone are the reason supernatural is better. I've never felt a sense of healthy competition and motivation like this before.

I love love love Supernatural. I do not mind the subscription price at all. I tried fit xr 1 time and didn't finish. I get a sense of satisfaction every time I fill my controller vibrate and the noise of hitting the arrows. I've never been really big in working out but Supernatural makes me want to sweat my ass off every single day. Its fun and exciting. But its the music, hands down, that makes me come back for more. Although i wish there was an option to make your own playlists. But other than that supernatural is the best option if your looking to burn some calories and have fun at the same time.

Tried them both, and Supernatural wins, but that’s just my personal preference. I don’t really care for boxing style workouts. I tried one for the Nintendo Switch, but lost 60 lbs doing another workout game for the same platform. So much is about what you really like, and what you’re going to be able to stick with in the long term.

Nail on the head with your reviews. I have both. I had started with FitXR, was OBSESSED with it, and then got really bored of it within a month. I found myself doing the same workout playlists to optimize my time with what I knew had the most squats and were the most challenging. I even began wearing wrist weights and a thigh band for more of a challenge. So, I moved onto Supernatural. I still love it after several months. I like that it connects to my Apple Watch to count calories burned, the trainers AND views are so inspirational, and you can always find a playlist to fit your mood for the day. Who knew working out to classical music would be so cathartic? (I've held back tears while standing on top of a mountain in Switzerland working out to Greig's "In the Hall of the Mountain King"). The only thing I'm missing with Supernatural, that you mentioned in your video, is the leaderboard for each song. It was very motivational in the FitXR app

Great comparison review. We are also developing VR fitness games and apps. Your video is very insightful, and it teaches me a lot in terms of what is helpful to the actual user. Please keep up with the excellent work. Thank you!

FYI Us 60 year olds were the founders of hip-hop. Of course we know who Cardi B is. Of course we know that Drake is overrated. Just kidding - good video. Good luck with your channel and Yes, Drake is the most overrated hip-hop artist in the 40 year history of hip-hop. Oh wait, you didn’t mention drake did you. Anyway, great video, very informative
