Wedi board is now available in Australia in small and very large sheets up to 1200 x 2500mm. I look at Wedi board and also Marmox board as these are both used as backers in mosaics.

Loved your tutorial and your sugar skull mosaic. Your mosaic looks so well done and finished well. Could you please explain or do a tutorial on making the cut sides of marmox/wedi neat and tidy using alkali resistant tape and thinset. I would like to know how to do it right and neatly. Also do you only have to do it to the cut edges. Maybe you have already covered this, I couldn’t find it. Many thanks, I love your tutorials Alana from regional NSW.

Hi Peter, How do I decide what thickness of Wedi board? I am in Australia and the available sizes I am thinking of purchasing are 1500x900x6mm or 1200x1200x10mm. I would prefer the 6mm sheet because the 900mm width i think will be more manageable for me but do not know if it will be too thin. Many thanks Peter.

I have been happily and very gratefully learning how to mosaic via your online tutorials - thank you!

Today, I was sealing my first marmox board project. I sealed one piece with mesh tape and grout instead of meshtape and cement adhesive. I realised my error and then sealed the next piece with cement adhesive.

I found the grout easier to use as it stuck in place, however the thinset was terrible to use. It didn’t stick at all well, and looks awful.

My questions: how do i take the grout off now, and how do I seal properly with thinset?

This video was very helpful. thank you Peter. I have purchased my Wedi board and have jig sawed my shape. It is quite large and when covered in glass will be very heavy. I am interested in the hanging brackets, particularly the flat plate type that was on your piece of Marmox in the video. I have looked at the other round ones and the ones that you would attach wire to but I don't think they would be strong enough. Can you tell me where you came across the flat metal plate type? Thank you in anticipation...
