Here's a cleaning tip from another YouTuber that really made a difference for me when I decluttered my kitchen drawers. Once you take everything out, vacuum the drawer first with one of the small attachments before you wipe it down with a wet rag. This little tip made cleaning the drawers so much quicker and easier. It's the little things in life :)

Good job decluttering …
Professional organizer here… We never ever buy containers until after we have purged and sorted like items, so you really know what size you really need

The biggest tip I can give anyone who is organizing their kitchen is to put stuff close to whatever part of the kitchen you use it in. So put the tea in the cabinet nearest the tea kettle. Your toaster should go in the cabinet above wherever you plug it in. Dishes should be close to the dishwasher, so you don't have to cross the kitchen to put them away. Stuff you use infrequently goes on the hard-to-reach shelves. The more things you can do this with, the better.

I'm 30 seconds into this video and I'm so grateful you showed the dirt on the bottom of your kitchen drawers because I always feel like a failure when I finally realize mine are dirty. Then I go into a frenzy cleaning them all and wiping them out. Thank you for being real!!

I really like the way you do your videos. You admit when things don’t work instead of making it Pinterest perfect every time. That’s a refreshing difference.

Yes! Finally a YouTube content creator acknowledges that Windex is King! I use the ammonia free version on my Cambria Quartz Countertops throughout my home and virtually every other “washable” surface, including inside cabinets.

You talked about Laundry organization on you podcast the other day. I am always surprised to hear when parents are still doing their teens laundry. We gave each of our three kids a laundry basket of their own at age 10 and started teaching them to do their own laundry. They learned how to use washer and dryer, how to get stains out, how to hang up clothes etc. 15:44 After a short time they were able to do their own laundry. I still washed sheets and towels for everyone. This helped lighten my laundry duty but also taught them valuable skills. When my friends kids went off to college they brought home tons of laundry for mom to do. My kids never did. They knew how to take care of their own clothes and never even thought of bringing me home dirty laundry.

To prevent those clear containers from sliding in your drawers you need a small bead of museum putty on each of the corners. Place the bins on top of the bead. This will keep them from sliding. And you can reuse those retractable dividers elsewhere in your home. I find that they are good for bedroom drawer dividing.

I love acrylic organization. I need everything in a bin. My partner has adhd and will actually use it. He never used the dollar store coloured ones lol. As far as i know...idesign makes the home edit organizers. Amazon makes the mdesign brand. Its a dupe and they are great for much less.

To keep the inserts from moving I bought from dollar tree the little white dots and put in each corner some use sticky tak etc. And they won't slide

For my big kitchen items that didn’t fit in the organizers, I lined the drawers with non slip liners. It looks better, they don’t rattle around, and you can’t see the worn spots on the drawer bottom. I have been organizing my kitchen to avoid the scary mess that is my hall linen/toiletry items/games/ etc closet. My technique in that area is to cram it in and close the door….😳 and then go admire my bathroom drawers.

I recently cleaned out a silverware drawer. I vacuumed out the drawer first to get all that schmutz. Then wiped it out. I used my dust buster. Also in a cleaning frame of mind I ran my dishwasher with a cup of white vinegar on the top shelf on a short cycle. Then ran a short cycle with a cup of baking soda in the bottom. Cleans and sanitizes. A lot of gunk came loose.

For plastic bins to keep from sliding use a rubber drawer liner

I decluttered my entire house over a year ago and OMG 😳 what a freaking difference! Granted we’re empty nesters but we do keep our 3 grandchildren a lot.

I’ve been decluttering as well. My youngest son leaves for college in the Fall so I’ve been putting kitchen items in a box for him when he moves into an apartment so I don’t have to buy new items for him.
