Thanks for watching. I've wanted to do this for a long time, and I'm glad I did it. I'll be doing another video soon, stay tuned for that.

Huge credit to JRPG games, who seem to have the highest concentration of absolute masterpiece OSTs.

I was so happy to hear FE Three Houses get it's flowers. I have the final song from the golden deer route playing in my head 24/7

YES!!!! I've always considered When Mother Was There one of the, if not THE most emotionally charged music on P5's OST. When I first listened to it, I was genuinely shocked. Suddenly this cheerful but slightly unconfortable music turns around and _sobs_ to the player. It's the reason Futaba is my favourite character.

I think the biggest factor to why videogame music is better is because it always comes with the context.

When you're listening to music outside of videogames, you never really have it's context. Imagine a music about cheating, you might hear it first and think nothing of it, but listen to the very same music after being cheated on and it has new meaning and it's suddenly so much better. The thing is, we might not have the necessary context or experiences to actually enjoy that music and we rate it lower than it's fair.

With videogames, you always have the context because they come together. You hear "When Mother Was There" when you deal with Futaba's trauma which brings a lot more meaning to the song than if you were listening by youtube recommendation or something like that.

Of course, the quality of the music in itself is very important, a VERY GOOD music might not need context to be enjoyable, but pick that same song and actually learn it's context and it turns into a masterpiece, that's why videogame music is often better, because you get to know and experience where it comes from.

I am seriously shocked that it is your first video on YouTube. This is SO DAMN good, it’s a epic video, and I was expecting for you to have a at least 5 months long channel, but… you’re new, and that’s refreshing.

Words cannot describe how 'memories of the city' from persona 3 makes me feel. Because of everything that built up to that last month of the game i feel in the song and i love it

Fire Emblem has actually been doing the seamless overview/battle transition since Awakening (3DS era), actually. In Awakening, IIRC they called the battle versions "Ablaze". Prior to Awakening, however, all FE battle songs were distinct from the out of battle themes (which also usually tended to have different battle themes based on which side's turn it was, and there were at least in the GBA era an extremely wide array of progressively more dramatic and thematic boss themes as you went further into the game). Of course in general, FE's always had a vibrant soundtrack.

Can we also talk about THree Houses absolutely SLAYING it with the use of Broken Routine??? Like when it plays for the first time and continued to play after *that* chapter, it really just enhanced the whole thing.

"So Happy World" from Persona 5 Royal hurts me deep, with that happy and crying melody. This song touched my son, and knowing the context it was used to play makes it way more deep, and that's something only videogame soundtracks can do.

Hoshi to bokura to is the perfect finale piece for Persona 5. Tears streaming down every time I listen to it.

As a huge Pokemon Mystery Dungeon fan I really appreciate the music being shown off here cause its honestly some of the best in the industry at making players feel a certain way depending on the situation.

As someone who struggles with auditory processing I deeply appreciate the subtitles you provided.
Not many people will care but those that do will be beyond grateful.
Absolutely loved the pacing in your video. Great work, my friend!

As a fellow video essay creator that is borderline obsessed with carrying the narrative I'm trying to tell with the music sourced from the topic at hand (long story short, the OST from the anime I'm writing on), watching this awakened something in me. You not only used extremely appropriate tracks to support your own narrative, but also used the converse option and supported the TRACK that was playing with the words you wanted to convey based on the feeling that track surrounds, something I haven't thought of until now. Not only that, but the way you structured each individual segment to compliment each other was absolutely splendid!

You've earned a follower from a fellow enthusiast, and I hope your essay endeavors treat you well going forward!

Undertale, Omori, earthbound, fire emblem, xenoblade, persona, Minecraft, cuphead, MKWII, pokemon, genshin, all have great OSTs, don’t forget about instrumental anime OSTs from anime like DB, bleach, hxh, just to name a few

Fire Emblem Three Houses really is such a triumph of a Soundtrack. I've kept listening to its music every day since I played it, and I could talk about it for hours. The attention to detail in what is such a massive soundtrack is absolutely insane.

Thanks for this video.

The composer for FF14 and FF16, Masayoshi Soken is a musical genius. So many masterpieces that he has created like:

Ascension (FF16)
Away (FF16)
To the edge (FF14)
Flow (FF14)
Shadowbringers (FF14)
Find the Flame (FF16)

All tell a story as a forefront to the game rather than just being background noise and they’re amazing!
