It is a beautifully creative and artistic restorative technique and has a place, albeit limited, in modern dentistry. However, the current state and future of adhesive dentistry is exceptionally bright, with composite materials becoming ever more biocompatible, mechanically resilient and increasingly conservative, for this reason amalgam restorations might become a technique of the past.
