Join us this week for the Thanksgiving episode of Lord of Spirits. The central act of faithfulness of the Christian life is Holy Communion, eating and drinking the Holy Eucharist. What are its Biblical roots? Is it derived from the Jewish Seder? Was the Reformation right about the Eucharist not being a sacrifice? And just how is bread and wine Christ’s Body and Blood? Fr. Stephen De Young and Fr. Andrew Stephen Damick continue their series on the Holy Mysteries by taking a close look at the greatest of all the sacraments.

1:56:00 That was good. Good explanation: "risen bread for risen Christ".

The Roman Catholic Church allows communion for anyone who is able to distinguish it from ordinary food.

This is very different with the idea you put forward, that someone needs to “understand the eucharist” in the rc church to receive.

Episode begins ~9 minutes in. (A bit confusing at first ;>) Episode ends ~23 too early. (A bit of a hassle to have to go to AF podcast to hear complete show.)

It’s so funny that you say you shouldn’t identify as “not x.” Orthodox do that all the time! LOL!
