I always thought of a jjk themed undertale au,

one move idea i had for domain expansion, was that instead of using magic to convey an area/barrier
the caster actually uses their own soul and traps the enemy inside, like some kind of magic soul barrier.

The barrier sense a foreign magic source, and does whatever it can to eliminate it, therefore the monsters attack always land.

I had come up with 3 ways of dealing would a soul barrier/soul zone.

1) Just like in jjk you can throw out your own to clash with the barrier, canceling out its sure-hit

2) You can try and find the caster of the barriers soul inside the barrier and destroy it, canceling out both the barrier itself
and killing the soul owner

3) the most unreliable but possible way, you can crack and break the barrier from the outside, it is only possible from the outside
because unlike inside the barrier, its range is indefinite, and you cannot actually see an end.

The barriers, when casted last for 5 minutes, nothing more nothing less, their duration cannot be increased nor shortened, UNLESS the caster purposefully ends the casting.
