I think you'd like the ART Pro Channel, it's basically a channel strip version of the Pro MPA Mic Pre and Pro VLA Compressor with an added EQ, It doesn't have an aural exciter or big bottom circuit built in obviously but the saturation of the preamp seems to add a subtle bit of low end punch to whatever you throw into it. It's currently $399 at Long and Mcquade so it's on the more affordable end of the spectrum and it would be interesting to hear how it stacks up to the Aphex.

I used one of these when working in community radio for volunteers with varying levels of experience in mic technique. the gate was great at cutting out extra studio noise and the guest mics across the desk from the host. The hosts went from sounding like community/college radio to sounding like a 50, 000 watt professional broadcaster.

Wow! Got this video patched through my 1977 Marantz stereo with old Infinity speakers from my laptop so it doesn't sound crappy. Love the sound of the Aphex on vocals, but WOW on the acoustic guitar!! Nice!

Can you explain what clocking is? And how important it is for the small studio owner to have one? I'm finding mixed answers on rather or not this is a necessity for a small studio, and figured you could help me cut through the bullshit and make an informed decision. Love the channel!

i got the Aphex Dual RPA 500 pretty much just use it for recording synths and keyboards as the tube adds some character but on vocals with SM7B does not work as good as api 512c combo

evryone loves a big bottomed aural exciter. the puns could be endless . sounded sweet on the guitar though shame i can't justify a grand. oh well my trustee sm57 and scarlett 212 will have to suffice for now .

On your voice it sounds a little more generous on the low end compared to the Distressor.
Feels very transparent and usefull for generic use, sure a step in the right direction for recording for whom uses plugins only on a direct sound.
Does it come in a 2 channels version for stereo stuff?
