I almost bought the XT-5 when somehow ended up with the Nikon ZF just based on reading that it's a "really good value camera". And wow. I love so much more than I expected. I couldn't be happier with this camera. It is a beast in a rather compact body.

The Nikon ZF is killer!! I had the X-T5 — awesome camera, lovely to use and hold, and the images were pretty great. But the images I get from the Nikon ZF are on another level.

I can appreciate the organic-ness of flowing between camera systems. I know you’ve done videos like it in the past but the “I’m leaving BRAND for BRAND” type videos get to me. I understand there’s an ecosystem but shooting different brands for their strengths just makes sense and announcing that one is leaving a brand seems silly.

I’ve been thinking about getting a Zf. It seems like a fun secondary camera for travel like you mentioned using it for. Z8 is my current workhorse and I have no af issues with portraits. I actually experienced more eyelash focus with the A7IV which is no longer in my arsenal.

Was so happy to see someone else shooting a nikon ZF with a thypoch 28mm f1.4 and neweer grip. Lovely photos and great video commentary about the Sony adapters too. I just sold my Sony a7RV and many of my Sony lenses to move to Nikon since my Sony wasn’t inspiring me to shoot much.
I agree, the autofocus for my uses shows no noticeable difference from shooting with my Sony a7RV when I used a megadap adapter on the zf and z8. Happy shooting man!

My z8 nails focus on my kids consistently, totally trust its performance. I wonder if its just the increased focus points. I've been considering this zf as a travel/EDC.

Have you tried creating your own in camera styles in dx studio and copy them over to the nikon Zf? This is already easily automated over the cloud for the nikon z6 iii. But you can do pretty much the same as with the Fuji film simulations. It is like pre editing a picture and you can re create all kind of film simulations like you create presets in lightroom.

I like how you have bounced around from all the different camera brands and and in summary you say Sony is king. I have always relied on Sony for my professional get it done 100%
Picked up a Fujifilm because it seemed like a fun camera to own and it totally is but when it’s time to get the job done the Sony is what will always be used for me

It's a beautiful camera and takes great photos, but I was surprised just how big and heavy it is. Great image quality for the price for sure.

I love my ZF. Unfortunately, I put the Nikon SB-300 mini flash on it and now it won’t release. I debating sending it in or just living with the bigger footprint. On the plus side, the flash does work.😢

Great shots and great review! Question… Have you used voigtlander lenses with the MF assist? If so, do you find them worth it over non-chipped lenses like the Thypochs, or is the green box focus confirmation not really that useful in practice?

Viltrox will release 50mm f2 air in a month, so that will be cheap, small and light lens for ZF... :)
