US Capitol violence: Protest in support of 'J6' rioters in Washington amid heavy police presence

Protestors gathered in front of the US Capitol on Saturday in support of the January 6 rioters. Dozens held a rally in support of the pro-Trump rioters who stormed the US Capitol on January 6. However, the protestors outside the Capitol were outnumbered by a robust security presence. Police, in riot gear, used a security fence around the Capitol & rows of armored trucks to keep the peace. Protestors had received a permit for 700 people but far fewer showed up for the rally. Organizers of the ‘Justice for J6’ rally denounced the detention of the ‘political prisoners’. No, the protest was not in support of the Jan. 6th mob and they made that clear on their website. Did the Hindustan Times even bother to read it? What they were protesting is the fact that most of the people arrested over Jan. 6th are being held without bail and without being charged. They were in favor of them being arrested if they were causing trouble, but that should be followed with charges and a court date. Those arrested over that day haven't been charged with anything and aren't having any court days arranged for them which makes them political prisoners. That is the point of this protest. And the reason behind the low turn-out is because Trump denounced this protest and warned his followers not to attend because he thought it would be a set-up. All the Hindustan Times had to do was Google that, too.
