I work in the operating room at my local hospital. This device is called an external fixation cage. It is used for a tibia/fibula fracture. When the extremity is inflamed the surgeon can’t go in to place a tibial nail due to low visibility. They slap this on for a few weeks or even months until it is safe to go back in for surgery. Hope this helps. 😊
