Bermuda Triangle debunked
Hello Nerds! Welcome back to my channel! Today we shall debunk the various myths surrounding the famous Bermuda Triangle!
Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Devil's Triangle, is an urban legend centered around a loosely defined region in the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean where a number of aircraft and ships are said to have disappeared under mysterious circumstances.
This mysterious place has stupefied human beings for generations, confused scientists in the previous century & has been the graveyard for thousands of unsuspecting people!
So what is this place? The Bermuda Triangle is a region of North Atlantic Ocean, just off the coast of Florida & forming a hypothetical triangle with the islands of Puerto Rico & Bermuda. This urban legend encompasses an area of roughly between 1.5-4 M sq kms. Over the course of the last century, this region became quite infamous as hundreds of ships & aircraft disappeared without a trace, leaving the common man puzzled & hooked to its mystery!
There were various theories based on these disappearances which made rounds. Some of them include a wormhole to an alternate universe, supernatural forces, paranormal presence, region frequented by UFOs & other unexplained phenomenon.. Many of these conspiracy theories were vastly exaggerated, leading to a popular influx in the media & other sources, which lead to the legend of the Triangle.
The reality & true explanation of the Triangle however, is fairly simple. The region of the so called Bermuda Triangle is a Hurricane-active zone, where a number of powerful storms pass through regularly. The Bermuda Triangle is right at the core of intense hurricane activity.
Another question arises here: why is this a Hurricane active zone? To understand that, we have to talk about the Gulf Stream.
In very simple words, Gulf Stream is a warm, strong & swift Atlantic Ocean current originating in the Gulf of México, that influences the climate of the Bermuda Triangle.
The warm water combined with the tropical temperature in the Gulf Stream is a perfect recipe for the formation of Hurricanes! Additionally, Caribbean is a region where there are a number of tiny islands. This creates many areas of shallow water that can be especially dangerous to ship navigation.
Way before the introduction of weather satellites, ships & aircrafts did not have a warning system that alerted them of hurricanes, and thus were battered by the incoming storms & sunk to the bottom of the ocean. Combine all this with simple human error & you’re bound to have more accidents in the region. This can be also true for many other regions around the world. There is no hard evidence suggesting the mysterious disappearances occur with a greater frequency in the Triangle compared to any other large, well navigated area of our vast oceans!!
