I personally find invisible tunnels tricky to navigate; so I do this, but I always bring my invisible map and my invisible flashlight, just in case.

Yea. The Farragut Crossing is good to use for passenger service. But for Metro train power moves, they use a special track who connects BL, OR and SV Tracks. The same thing with Fort Totten. They have a special track who connects RD to GR/YL Tracks.

This is actually referred to as a "virtual tunnel" by WMATA, as seen on the smartrip statement when you do this. Source: did this daily back in 2015-2016

I hadn't realized that's considered one continuous ride and not two separate ones - you'd think metro would just build an underground walk way between the two Farragut stations like they have in London, but hey, it's Metro :)

I have actually used this a couple times -- mostly if I think Metro Center will be overcrowded!

There's actually a non revenue tunnel that connects farragut north to farragut west, was used back when Wmata had only one rail yard

Don’t want to walk from Woodley or Cleveland Park to the Zoo? The L2 drops you off right at the front entrance

I have tried to use this a few times if Metro Center is crowded, but somehow it seems to funk with my monthly pass. When I try and tap out at my final destination, it always says I have to add value, but when I go to the exit fare machine it tells me to see the station manager lol. If I just stay on the metro, it accepts the pass normally, no additional charge.

The DC metro map is such a mess on the London Underground they mark OSI (Out of Station Interchanges

Pro tip: You have 30 minutes to walk the block, so you can also stop for a coffee or sandwich.

There's something similar in the Toronto subway, but there's actually an underground tunnel between the tracks. Because the change at the interchange station is usually faster, you typically use the tunnel just in case. I'm referring to Spadina and Saint George stations. It's like merging the two Farragut stations and building an actual tunnel between them.

That is good to know for me, someone who does not live there but visits occasionally. Thank you!

Not so much of an invisible tunnel as an effective path between two stations

I have lived here for like 6 years and Farragut West is my main stop and I had no idea.

Useful advice, but my UK debit card *really* doesn't like being presented at US fare gates. Those _single fare_ concessions don't work on foreign cards.

And in any case, I'd probably just walk. We don't have any Metro in my part of the UK ('cos we're cheap) so that's already our default!

Yeah but on the weekends (and after 10pm) the 17th and I exit is closed
