The Real G.O.A.T. of Ribbon Mics | SF-12 Royer Labs

Показать описание
Today, we’ll be checking out Royer Labs SF-12 stereo ribbon microphone, known for its exceptional audio quality, stereo imaging, and separation. This modern ribbon design avoids audible diffraction and cavity resonance. The SF-12 consists of two matched ribbon microphones, arranged in a Blumlein configuration with each aimed 45 degrees from the center. It delivers excellent frequency response from all angles with minimal off-axis coloration.
The microphone features two lightweight 1.8-micron ribbons, ensuring superb transient response. Its magnet/pole piece structures provide a smooth, wide frequency range without significant peaks or dips. Constructed with an ingot iron case as part of its magnetic circuit, the SF-12 achieves high sensitivity in a compact design. It includes an extension cable with a Y adapter splitting into labeled XLR connectors for the upper and lower capsules.
