Just a heads up for those looking at this: a 16ohm load will NOT work with this attenuator. I’m definitely not trying to snipe Shawn, not at all (hopefully that’s clear, Shawn), but I bought this to tame down my AC15 and...it’s a 16ohm load, so it’s not compatible. Hope this helps anyone looking for the right attenuator for their amp. Cheers!

Great review as always Shawn. You actually explained this device BETTER than the Tone King video or manual did!

My third and last attenuater. It works.

I wonder how much wiggle room you have on that 30 watt rating. My AC30tbx is rated at 33 watts according to the manual. I would love to have one of these for playing live.

Shawn, thanks for the excellent gear demos. Between you and Pete Thorn, I'm going broke. Lol.

What is the volume/gain on the amp? I bought a Morgan MVP 23 in large part because of its power-scaling capability. When I received the amp, I put the gain and volume at around 2 o'clock (~ 7/10) and it sounded amazing. Unfortunately, even with the power-scaling at its lowest level, it was too loud for my apartment. Turning down the gain and volume to acceptable levels with the lowest power-scaling did not give me the sound I wanted. I wound up selling the amp.

My point is that, at least with the Morgan, the attenuation starts from the un-attenuated volume, so a 20 watt amp that is really cranked may still be too loud for "bedroom" volumes.

Hi Shawn, I just found your channel, I love the informative reviews of all the great products And your Great playing. I think this attenuator would be great for my Victoria tweed 5112 and my Tweed Deluxe. what do you think ? Thanks

Can you adjust the output volume when you hit the solo button so it's not as much boost from what you were showing in the video?

Does this baby works well with a 68 Fender Custom Deluxe Reverb?

Hey Shawn, great video as usually!
I have a Morgan JS12 and it seems to have some really annoying low 60-100Hz noise issue, it's pretty auditable especially when miced up at low volume levels. The low hum seems to be coming from the power supply tho and is being partially picked up by the speaker. My old tube amp had a similar issue, but the fender 68 Princeton I've been playing at the guitar store side by side with Morgan was dead quite in comparison. Does all Morgan amps have this problem? with a loud power supply? I've checked two JS12 so far (sent one back) and they all seems to have that problem. Did you have to cut down some low 100Hz-ish frequencies when you were mixing the audio? I usually recorded my amp at a very quite levels: volume on let's say 9 o'clock. Do you think using power attenuator and cranking up the volume would help to achieve a cleaner signal with less noise but at appropriate apartment levels? Thank you for your wisdom, Cheers from Poland, Michael

I reckon this is probably the best sounding attenuator below ~$600

Hi! This attenuator inspires me for good value for money, but I have a 40 watt fender hot rod. Could it be all right?

Thanks for this...however, the compression algorithm of Youtube seems to have rendered all the levels almost identical...I kept waiting for the quieter levels, but they all sound about the same. Like I said, could be the compression of youtube or of your video setup. Anyway...it was five years ago so who's even reading these comments anymore. :-)

Hi i have a 30 watt 5e3 circuit handwired amp that is quite loud for a 30 watt amp. This seems to be at the max of the load for this attenuator. Should i have any concerns about using this on my 30 watt amp? Should i jump up to the 100 watt version?
