I was thinking on TMC2226 with SKR 1.4 turbo in Ender 3 pro. But now I’m confused as to 2226 or 2209

What the current in the tests?

It cannot work reliably with passive radiators even on 1A.

So i could run these without using a fan? Maybe I should replace my 2130 drivers!

@BIGTREETECH could you post the jump scheme for the tmc2226? Through the video I couldn't see it right and I was in doubt if there are 2 jumpers or just 1 for uart.

can I use it like the 2209 for sensorless homing?

Can we say that these are like an upgraded version of the TMC2130?

What firmware do I put on board when Marlin does not support TMC2226 yet?

Thx

Please someone who can help me! I want to put a TMC5160 on a BTT SKR 1.4 turbo but I don't know if it's recommend that tmc for ender 3 pro or not 🙏

This video proves that BTT TMC2226 driver is worse than BTT TMC2209. Or that BTT engineers can't test their own products!
Let me explain.

TMC2226 and TMC2209 produce the same amount of heat for the same application, as all of the parameters except the package are the same.
TMC2226 has better thermal conductivity than TMC2209, which means, it is better than TMC2209 in transferring heat from the silicon inside to the outside. (like open oven vs closed oven, closed oven has low thermal conductivity, keeps heat inside so the surrounding is cold). In case of driver outside = PCB and then air, PCBs are more less the same size for both products, so they can dissipate the same amount of heat.

Yet, BTT TMC2226 module is colder than BTT TMC2209. Where did that heat go? PCB is not hotter, so it's no there, the only way for that extra heat is inside the chip, that's terrible and means that '09 design is better.

Or maybe BTT folks did not set the same current, can't correctly measure the temperature or blow at the chip before measurement to cool it down? In any case, there is something fishy about BTT or modules they produce.

Oh is that BS. As I have TMC226 and SKR 1.4 Turbo and all the settings I’ve tried and the board still can’t go “home”. Baud rates match, serial port changes I’ve tried. Stepper motors are good after extensive testing. I can heat nozzle and bed. Either a BAD board or don’t like the TMC 2226 stepper drivers. POS

Updated 2208s, but still inferior to the 2209s
