Relaxing can mean different things to different people but a drive through the English countryside is relaxing for me. Even on a rainy day it is relaxing to drive the quite lanes of England.

I lived in England in 1970-74. It can never be foreign land to me. God save the Queen :)

I miss ol' Blighty so much it hurts.  I'm going back first chance I can get.  I love the Northwest US for sure, but it's more like my love for any beautiful exotic place.  England (especially the Southwest and West Midlands) is the only place that really feels like home.

Hi Alan - thank you so much for uploading this wonderful little video. The film, together with the exquisite music, certainly is most relaxing. Rest assured I shall be coming back regularly to watch this upload again whenever the stresses of the day become too much - such a pity I won't be able to thumb you up each time I do!As one or two others have requested, please could you let us know whereabouts in England you recorded your drive? The video has obviously been edited (cut) in several places - was this to remove film of oncoming traffic by any chance?

Forgot to mention - plenty of interesting 'watering holes' on your journey :) No chance of developing a thirst, then? Nice!

Hi Alan, my wife and i just discovered this beautiful video today! is this near North Curry, Somerset? it looks amazingly like the road we went for a day hike down and we stopped into one of the pubs you drive by. we had rented a cottage in North Curry way back in 1989. we live in Massachusetts, USA. @3:15 I sounded very American as I came off with, "Hey is that a one way street because he's driving on the wrong side of the r-" and realized my mistake

I'm a little perplexed. Two things are going through my mind as i'm watching this. Firstly, you can't see anything much beyond the road as the bushes are so grown over. It's almost akin to driving in a maze. Secondly, I was always looking for the next driveway or cross road for another vehicle. Not being able to see very far ahead at all is extremely unnerving. It seems a very nerve wracking place to drive! Not relaxing at all for me. In Australia, most country roads have the fence many metres from the road. And if there are bushes right up to the road, as in this video, they would have to be cut right back as they would be considered a dangerous driving hazard. Do you just assume there are no other road users?
