Dunnottar Castle has a rich history from early chronicles to William Wallace to the Jacobite Rebellions, and it also was the scene of the one of the most famous sieges in Scottish history. The Dunnottar Castle history is also very much entwined with the Keith Family of Scotland.

When I was younger I used to dream about a place that I would sketch out on paper with pencil and it was Crags and flat cliffs along with a castle ruins. The first time I ever saw this place I fell out of my chair literally I cried for two days this is the place I've been drawing ever since I was a young girl. And I still don't know why. Thank you for sharing this.

Great video! As descendants of Clan Keith, two of my siblings and I just returned from taking our parents on a pilgrimage to Dunnottar from the States. This had been a lifelong dream of my father, who is 87. A magical time together in a magical place!

I have a painting of this castle in one of my bedrooms and a picture of my Scottish husband at the same castle when he still lived in Scotland as a young man. I hope we can go there soon!

My husband is Scottish and his name is Matthew William Keith. He is related to William Keith. My grandmother's name is McBride and I am related to Robert the Bruce. We're devising ways to reclaim this castle, haha. Wish us luck.

I enjoy learning about this because my mother and her family are Keith's, bearing the title through the male lines from their late great grandfather; Sir William Keith

My friend and I visited Dunnottar during our trip to Scotland recently and it was so worth it! It was beautiful seeing the landscape around the castle and learning about the history. Highly recommend!

I've dreamt of cresting the rocky hills surrounding this castle my entire life. I've sat at the edge of the land looking out over the sea and wound my way up tower stairs to peer out the stone windows at night. Each time I dreamt of it, I would wake up with a sense of peace; as if visiting the castle was a deeply meaningful experience. It came to represent contentment for me; a castle bathed in golden light, jutting out from the cliffs, over an endless sea.

Two years ago I started researching my family tree and one particular line continued back into history with well-documented lineage. I knew that I had significant Scottish ancestry, but it turns out that I am descended from a Scottish Earl! Excitedly, I copied the name of his birthplace, Dunnottar Castle, and popped it into Google Images to see if the place where my ancestors lived still existed. The very first image sent a wave of goosebumps down my arms as I recognized it immediately. There it was. The castle from my dreams.

Lord William Keith 1585-1635 was my 12th great grandfather. I’ve spent so much time tracing my family roots, it’s so much fun!

Wonderful video! My paternal 9th great grandfather John McQueen was one of the 122 men imprisoned there in 1685! I read somewhere that he carved his name on the wall somewhere I dream of visiting one day to find out! Keep up the good content!
