WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH LAYOFFS?

CAR MARKET IS ALREADY IN A RECESSION?
Repo cars are already hitting the market from people who couldn't afford to make payments because they got loans during stimulus. This means banks will start to tighten lending requirements, supply will go up, demand will go down, car prices will not be going up forever like they have.
WHAT ABOUT UNEMPLOYMENT CLAIMS?
On the bright side - new U.S. jobless claims went down last week by 11,000 to 200,000 - which is the lowest amount of layoffs on record and the strongest labor market in decades. We had a 54 year low in March.

WHAT'S HAPPENING TO THE MARKET?
Here are some good news. Between July 1926 and April 2022 - the stock market averaged 9.95% per year. The total stock market return over all those years or “cumulative return” was 885,084%.

If you look at the market as whole throughout 20 year rolling periods - the stock market has always made money. In fact the cumulative returns five years after a 20 percent decline was 69.9 percent.

Over the last 96 years - the stock market went down 15 times where it dropped more than 20% (bear market). The total market loss was 34.8% on average, and it took exactly 264 trading days to decline all the way until the market reached the bottom. The time it took to recover from those losses on average was 567 trading days.

(The only exception to all this was the Great Depression which from Sept. 3, 1929, the market took several years to reach the bottom in June 1932, at which point stocks fell 84 percent and the market did not fully recover until Jan. 2, 1945. So it took 16 years for someone invested in 1929 until 1945 to finally get break even) But in the end - it always worked out - in those 20 year rolling periods.

Do you think this will be a recession or depression?

Used to live in Florida but moved to back to my country (Dominican Republic) last year. Way lower cost of living down here, it has been an excellent move for us.

The greatest concern for me right now is the price of diesel, as that is crushing the truckers both company and independent. They are the lynchpin in our economy and supply system.

THIS IS "THE PERFECT (FINANCIAL) STORM" ! Soaring inflation, stock market collapse, crypto collapse, wars & fear of another WORLD WAR, shortages & distribution network failures, plunging consumer confidence, continued ineptitude from the Fed and Congress, and MORE. Makes 1929 look like "the good old days" - at least back then, many could survive by farming, hunting, & fishing. How many folks can do those things now ?

Hey! Someone's getting real for a change!
Although it's even much worse than that. The Greatest Depression that has already begun will make the Great Depression look like a walk in the park.
(And don't mind me kidding in the first line, you've been doing great work the last two years)

Glad to see someone else finally admit we’re headed for depression. It’s been building for years. And the reason? CORRUPTION.

The average person has been in recession since 2001. The declaration of recession is just the top 30% joining us in depression.

We've barely even seen the start of this. Things are just kicking off.

I'm 72 yrs old and have been here for a long time and I have to say the writing is on the wall in bold print. We have high gas prices that most Americans are having a hard time with while driving there inefficient vehicles. inflation and greed wiping out there budgets, and now raising interest rates that will blow 25 % out of there homes, shortages of products every where . This is a triple whammy and it's not going to stop. SOME ONE IS SENDING US ALL A MESSAGE, ARE WE LISTENING !!!

I think you are correct. This feels different than anything I’ve sen in my 60+ years here. The Federal Reserve Overnight Repo is breaking records daily now…over $2 trillion nightly.

There’s too much to list.

I am from Mexico City and there are a more and more Americans living here, working remotely and pumping up the rent prices with their 1k USD a month to a point that average Mexican people cannot afford to live in nice areas of the city. They wouldn't be able to afford a decent living in the US otherwise.

It is funny how Americans coming to Mexico call themselves "Expats" while they call "Immigrants" those coming from Mexico to the US and look down upon us.

Be careful, the US empire is collapsing and one day, the US is not going to be a good place to live for the average American and many of you are going to beg for jobs and safety abroad.

I agree thoroughly with you, David. As far as I'm aware, most of the people and I also want peace. THX for the well-researched videos.

I remember ur older videos, thinking this guy is pessimistic, negative, just wants the market to crash. But sure enough, ur tone was correct.

Some of us saw it coming. Common sense looked at the way things were going and attitudes and knew there was no soft landing And the attitude of this government alone tells you that we are screwed. Those waiting for the dip will run out of money paying their bills before the buying opportunity happnes.Or they will buy dips that keep dipping.

I'm the guy in the thumbnail that's smiling as the markets crash and burn. Pulled out very early January. Trickling my money back in as it falls and will dump a bunch in around winter 2023. By then the markets should hit their cyclical bottom. S&P should go to around 3000 +/-. Gold is pretty much the only thing I'm invested in right now for the short term.

Canadas grain belt being hammered by 4+ inches of rain after a slow start to the growing season. I can see problems developing from this. Drowned seedlings, disease or fungus issues will hamper production
