Planet Mercury is changing!

Mercury is the smallest planet in our solar system, and it's becoming even smaller and denser over time. Scientists used to think Earth was the only planet with moving tectonic plates, but that changed when the MESSENGER spacecraft explored Mercury. It took detailed pictures of the whole planet and found some interesting things.

One discovery was cliff-like features called fault scarps. These are like cracks in the ground. Since they're not very big, scientists think they formed recently. This means Mercury is still changing even though it's been around for billions of years.
