thats what i love about this game. the DEPTH. having shared systems that is unique per character makes you need to be more "intimate" in mastering the character. so you cant just learn one character and then do the same thing on every other characters.

After watching it with the way Max pauses it, it looks more like a Drive Rush combo from SF6, at least with Jin in particular. Since he’s able to cancel certain moves and continue the combo. I think the Heat System will be some added gauge meter that we have to fill to be able to activate for enhanced moves and combos unique to all the characters. The more hits you land in the match, the more the meter fills, almost like EX moves or Drive meter, that literally changes the properties of not only the moves the characters use but on occasion their outward appearance as well.

I have noticed that all characters have converted into Dash Cancel from historically knock-away only moves (e.g: Jin's 1+2 is a i12 punish that you can't do anything from) which gave the opponent a slight room to breathe with the fight state somewhat resetting. But with Heat, and all the "aggressiveness", even a knock away is not the end of the interaction. Explains some of the stuff they were saying about how the general gameplay will be more aggressive.

Obviously there are other ways like they mentioned, but it sure makes the fight more fast-paced.

What I'm getting from this is that King has developed Mishima like qualities with the heat mechanic. I swear to God, if he puts on sunglasses and wears a trench coat I'm going to lose my shit haha

Paul's Rage Art in Tekken 8 looks like it's literally just the same thing from Tekken 7 with just a hit, and then his normal big punch BUT THIS TIME with more camerawork then in 7. I still there's more interesting things they could be doing with his Rage Art...

I like how they're taking big inspo from tekken 4, kinda like how sf6 is taking from 3rd strike—both games not very well received at launch for being so different but became more beloved as time went on ^^

I looked at old T7 trailers and never saw a side step in those either. I'm glad T8 is bringing something new with the heat system. Hope the story makes sense this time and more characters are involved
