Microservices Observability

Debugging problems in production is not trivial, particularly in a microservices environment. A single request can trigger a chain of API calls any of which could fail in unexpected ways. Debugging is not as simple as opening a log file since now logs are generated at various microservices, perhaps in different formats.

In this talk, we will learn the essentials of observability for service-based apps. We will see how observability differs from monitoring, what are its benefits, techniques, design patterns and challenges. The talk will make reference to some popular tools that aid observability. To get the most out of this talk, participants must be familiar with microservices.
