So first off, I hope y'all didn't miss what he said. The color really does change depending on how the light hits it. See this review and then watch Musician's Friend. That's the same guitar. It's something you have to see in person. I've seen mine reflect both of these shades, and even in lower light look black with a midnight blue look in the middle. Photos on the net, and especially Gibson's website do not really show off the color properly. As an owner of this guitar I can say, this video and Musician's Friend's video match the real thing.

For the sound, the 2018 Standard has a slightly brighter sound versus the Traditional. Even with all of the push pull pots, it's not easy to get the tone as warm as the Traditional. Other than that, the tones that you can get are amazing. This is my first ever Les Paul and I love it. There are a variety of tones that you can get without using any effects pedal or effects from your amp; however, once you do, the guitar really can sound like multiple instruments. The combination of certain effects with the coil splits, and the phase switch are really fun to tinker with. Then there's the pure bypass. I like how another site refers to it as the Blow Switch. (better term) Everything jumps to 10. It's like the beginning scene in Back to The Future. This really is a great looking and sounding guitar for a variety of music styles. My only 2 complaints would be that I wish I could get a slightly warmer tone out it (still working on that) and, yes this is minor, the case and guitar strap.

For the expense of this guitar, Gibson should have thrown in a nicer looking guitar strap. Also, I'd have preferred the black case with the white fir with this Cobalt Blue guitar. Again, super minor issues, but when you consider the Anyway, this is an Excellent looking and sounding guitar.

Beautiful guitar, that colour is just stunning and the best looking Les Paul I've seen. I love them without the pickguard, makes you appreciate the colours better. Surprised at the Rosewood fretboard though, thought they were changing to Richlite or Pau Ferro?

Nobody understands the push pull pot configuration on you tube it seems . It looks to me like the Jimmy Page Mod on his #2 model 59 Les Paul standard, which btw also has the 60's tapered neck profile.
So the world's #1 Les Paul player modded his two favourite Les Pauls to be more than just 58 and 59 standard? Shock Horror ! Guitars Just tools not Icons (Hendrix played CBS Stratocasters after rewinding the Pups !)
The Jimmy Page mods he made also included 498R and T Pup's, kiddies not the burst buckers is the only mod you might need to make here. But ultimately, that mod is just simply cranking up your Orange or Marshall than a whole PUp refit. (Angus also ran 498 T's and R's - but these are arena players here - Page played fenders in the studio !!)

This is a solid step forward for old mate Gibson, considering all the Deluxe stratocaster Push pull options...the3y re masking this their STANDARD not a Deluxe. Does a Standard American Strat have all the options of these geetars?

Well freaking done Gibson, a master stroke here.
